carbon fiber fenders touring
this is a survey...how many bagger people would be interested in carbon fiber fenders that weight about 2 -3 lbs each...and you dont have to paint them...thinking of paying to have molds made and maybe sell these down the road for $450 each...i dont have any for sale right now...this is just a survey...tim

Tim- I would be interested. I am thinking of replacing the fender, saddle bags, tour pack and side covers with carbon fiber parts. I think there would be a market for it.

i agree, ive often thought that real carbon fiber parts would be badass looking on a bagger, not to mention all the weight savings if you had a hot rod bike and maybe that mattered. To complete the look could you laminate carbon fiber over a steel tank?

The carbon fiber is a great idea. Last year I bought aftermarket fenders and they both had to way twice as much as oem. The tank could be painted to match. Wonder how various candies would look over the fiber?

Im working on new front fairing for more RKC because Im tired of the seeing nothing bat batwing design ones.Heck its been around for 100 years or so right?I was looking into the same idea with it.I would like to find materails for carbon fiber castings. The mold is easy part especaily if using existing design.I have 60 or so hours in getting the plug ready for the molds to be pulled from.
If anyone knows of someone who sells materails for carbon fiber let me know.

I seen the candies done with Carbon Fiber, but it was not in the paint. They put a tint in the resin as they made the part. Looks awesome, but they could not make the same color twice.

wydopn - check out ExpressComposites in Minneapolis. I get materials from them all the time. Quick shipping and reasonably priced.
DRG - Prepped correctly, there's no reason kandys wouldn't work over carbon fiber. Its no different than painting carbon helmets and I've done that a couple times for Pro-Stock Motorcycle racers.

that is exactly what i was envisioning, except with a set of pearl orange/yellow flame licks on it to break up the carbon fiber. Great job.

Thank you. I went with the Old School Pin Stripping. In the parking lot it looks like a Black Bike until you get close. Now I can't wait until November. I entered it in the San Mateo International Motorcycle Show.
Stripping done by Mike the Stripe in Milpitas Ca. Picture too large to post. If interested let me know I have a face book page for the Bike which I can send the link.
