Tell Me What You Think

I found stock parts for my 2008 105th ann fat boy, (the seat both fenders and the tank,) for 1200.00 bucks. What I'm wondering is do you think it's a good idea to pick them up in case something should happen to my paint, or seat, or whatever. The dealer changed out the parts, and put them up for sale. They are straight off the bike, and ready for installation. So do ya think I ought to pick em up as back up?

Typically, additional anniversary paint sets are available through H-D, for purchase only by original purchasers of anniversary bikes, in the event something happens to your bike. Case in point: My wife has a 100th anniversary Fat Boy, 2-tone black and silver. A couple of years after we got the bike, she dropped it, and then decided to get a new front fender and tank. It was no problem getting original anniversary-painted sheet metal.

Of course, there are dealers like the one you mention who sell take-offs and other folks who sell their take-offs on e-bay.

I'd save the $1200.
