I own a black road king custom, i would like to change the color of it, should I look for a paint set, or take the fenders/tank etc of and have it repainted?

I know it all depends on how long can you wait for your parts? Some places can knock out a paint job it a week, some take forever... I'm having a stock paint job for a front fender on my fatboy two tone plain skirted fender... 300.00 and it's been 4 weeks... bigger jobs come in and I get put on the shelve. I purchased a set for $650 on e-bay for the next time. It was in excellent shape, looks like it was never on a bike... first time I ever got a deal like that.

I like the idea of having a complete spare set you can paint up so no down time, or if you sell the bike you could put the stock set back on. Also, if your stock set is in mint condition you can e-bay it for good $$$ when your done.

As stated earlier, depends on how ling you want to wait. Took 9 weeks for me to get my paint set back from painter. I bought a front and rear fender and a tank off ebay for just a smidge over $400. I have a custom paint job and still have my original tins if I ever want to go back to the original color.

Well, I won't comment on the ethics or quality of the local painters here, after going thru this 2 years ago, but I will say this.

WHEN YOU BUY AN ALREADY DONE SET, THE COLOR IS EXACT TO WHAT YOU SEE, THE QUALITY IS EXACT TO WHAT YOU SEE, AND IT IS FINISHED WHEN IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE, PLUS YOU HAVE AN OLD SET.

I tried to save a few bucks on a salvage bike, and ended up with close to a years worth of lies, downtime, and ended up spending double what a complete custom tinset would have cost...

IF you'd like the painters number (there were 2 seperate places involved), please feel free to ask.
I wonder if this had anything to do with paint fumes?

Are you still looking for paint? I have an injected RK tank off an 06 and some side covers...fenders I have are classic, not custom.....

If you need anything let me know, maybe I could help...

Im looking for a Tank, and a set of Glass bags.
Im not tired of what I have, but think if I went to a Purple or something crazy, it would bring out the Chrome more than what it does now.
