Bob,
About ten days ago I was on line and asked if you had the PPG code for the HD 08 color Candy Red Sunglo. In one of your earlier messages you said that you had already ordered it, so I assumed that you must already have the code. Could you please advise if this is the case.I have been going around Spray Shops over here trying to find someone who can match it but I am having no luck at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

They aren't done yet... my painter has the paint in hand...and prepped the new bags. I pretty much hate the way the standard bags latch. My previous bike had police bags and I loved them, and I found a brand new set (ABS not fiberglass) for $500.00 so I bought them. I have the squadfitter pushbutton latches (no hockey puck), and then I can easlity open them if I need something while riding and just slam them shut

I am having a little something special done to them, if my painter remembers..lol... I will post pics when they are done.

I have all the PPG codes listed on the first page, but I also carry the factory HD codes that can be ordered through the dealerships, because I do quite a bit of restoration, repair, and matching aftermarket accessories and helmets to stock rides. (I don't have any of the SE or factory custom codes, just the production codes from '83-'08.)

Candy Red Sunglo is a two part color utilizing Pewter Pearl (98609 CGR) as its base before the Candy Red topcoat (98609 CVC) is applied. You would also need urethane activator 99825-02. They mix at a ratio of 4:1 and should be reduced as necessary (roughly 10%) with a mild urethane reducer.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help Badger I'll go see my spray Painter and give him the information and see how it goes. Just to be sure am I correct in assuming the codes you have provided are HD factory codes.

Hey Badger,
I'm not having any luck over here finding any Harley dealer that actually carries HD brand paint. They all tell me to go to a paint shop and see if they can match it, or suggest they can order from the factory but it could take months to get it, and I'm afraid I can't really wait that long. I see Bob actually has a ppg code for the pewter pearl but I was wondering if you may have a ppg code for the candy red topcoat. Most of the paint shops out here use ppg paints so if I can get their codes for these colors I might be ok.

Hey Wally,

I do not have a code for the candy red. Wish I could be of more help on this one. I'll make a call to my PPG jobber tomorrow and see if they can cross reference the HD code for me, sometimes they can, sometimes they can't. I'll definitely keep you posted on it though.

I probably should have done a search for these first to see if they're already posted, just disregard if so:

2008 Pinstripe Codes:

HD Orange Pinstripe 98601 CVG
Gray Pinstripe 98601 CVR
Black Pinstripe 98601 DH
Dark Blue Pinstripe 98601 CAY
Bright Gold Pinstripe 98600 EI
Pale Gold Pinstripe 98600 JI
Medium Red Pinstripe 98601 CCX
Brt. Orange Pinstripe 98600 JG
Med. Silver Pinstripe 98600 EJ
Blue Pinstripe 98600 CO
Tan Pinstripe 98601 CLV
Burgundy Pinstripe 98600 BC

There was a thread in here regarding removal of stripes and it reminded me I had a copy of these nearby so I figured I'd share them here. Hope this helps.

Thanks for posting the code for the Crimson Red Sunglo. I've been looking for it for some time now. I want to have my trailer painted to match the Ultra I just got. My question is, does the metal flake come mixed in the PPG paint or do you have to get a top coat for that? If so, any idea what the code is for the top coat?

917827 is the code for Candy red Sunglo silver base, the tinted topcoat color is 917827/2, if you are painting a trailer to match you should be good to go, I have noticed quite a variance of this color just looking at different bikes from the moco, like any 3 stage paint, the thickness of the topcoat and method of spraying the basecoat(wet or dry) will skew the color one way or the other, the trigger man will have a great effect on final outcome as far as match goes. BTW, sorry it took me so long to get back with these, our local PPG rep sucks!!!

Thanks for the info on the Candy Red Sunglo. I got the number for the Crimson Red Sunglo from an earlier post, PPG 918333? Would you happen to know the number for the topcoat for that color? Thanks
