Mean City cycle Seat Modification questions.

Let week i went to a local event and saw these guys there. I checked them out and liked the stuff that i saw there. They had their gel pads in fold out chairs that you could sit on. I'm looking at their brochure as i type this post. They've got like 5 or 6 options. I'd like to ask your advice.

I've got the factory seat that came on the Road King. (note not the classic as that's a different seat) my seat height is perfect, i don't need to go froward or backwards. However I'm thinking about wanting to get some more comfort for the longer rides rear starts to get numb. I do recall when i purchased the 09 the dealer told me that the seat was remodeled and such and said that it from the factory is comfortable. It's not bad but I'm wanting more now that I've ridden the bike for a year.

2) I'm not sure which way to go.
a) 100.00 = Memory foam (1) 2" Layer
b) 140.00 = Memory foam (1) 2" Layer and (1) 1" layer.
c) 120.00 = Impact Gel pad (no memory foam)
d) 140.00 = Impact Gel w/ Memory foam (doesn't say how many or how thick) I think the guy at the show told me 150 = Impact Gel w/ (2) 1" Layer of memory foam
e) 250.00 = Impact Gel w/ (1) 2" Layer of foam.

I see a lot of guys going with foam and getting it shaved up and stuff in other posts. In my opinion I (think) that i like the idea behind the Gel pad.

I'm thinking of option c or d?

Comments, concerns, suggestions, on this offering, these guys, or alternatives?

I will say the price seems very reasonable.

Most of the stock HD seats are very uncomfortable - I doubt that they will be great afterwards. I have tryed a number of seats and ended up going back to the police seat, with a little mod to the tbar.

Bi-polar and loving it!!
Bi-polar and hating it!!
95" w/ KB pistons (flattops)
HQ575 cams
Atwood's Road Warrior Heads
HPI bored throttle body
.030 head gasket
SuperTrapp Supermeg 2in1
"43" points cover
TRW rear mount
obligatory Baisley Spring

Take you a glass of water. Make it against the law. See how good the water tastes. When you can't have any at all.

Just sayin..........

How much do you weigh? Allen at MCC says unless your 200 plus pounds you wont benefit from the gel,its actually for heavier riders.Chuck at C&C says the same thing,95% of their seats go with out gel.I have read some good reviews and some bad reviews about reworking seats. They will tell you that a vinyl seat will never be as comfortable as a leather seat, and by the time you ship your seat, have it reworked, and recover with a leather cover you have twice as much as a new mustang or C&C seat.Trust me,look into a C&C seat, I promise you wont be disappointed. The quality, comfort, looks, customer service is top notch!

I was kinda guided away from a gel seat too, after talking with Chuck at C & C. And I couldn't be happier with my seat from C & C. I only have a few hundred miles on it so far, 200 in one sitting, but it's nice and comfy. I wouldn't say "plush", but my a.. ain't sore. Not like breaking in the stock '09 SG seat, which took about 500 miles.

depending on when your bike was made will depend on the amount of foam in the seat, allen posted pics somewhere else with the early 09 vs late 09 seats, hd started getting complaints about the height of the seats so the started putting less foam in them.

I had an early 09 seat that I had modified by allen because of my height, he did the 100 mod and took out as much as he could, I was very happy with the seat, but still wanted to get lower since I am only 5'7.5". HD just came out with a new "low" seat for 09+ baggers, I got one cheap, so I sold my modded seat to a friend, I put about 350 miles on yesterday and it wasn't bad, but I will be having memory foam put in it, because it is more comfortable, and he can make the seat even lower for me.

+1 for the MCC seat
