My stock seat is killin' me...
2005 Ultra Classic, looking for mods or alternatives to the stock seat. I'm fairly big, 6'1" 260lbs., and after 200-250 miles, my azz is throwing up the "White Flags". A break helps but Jeez there has 'gotta be a better alternative! Gel cushion, Sheep Skin, Novacaine...whatever!

Mustang and Corbins, like Chevies and Fords. I got one of each, 1 piece touring models. Mustangs raise you and Corbins kinda lower you. Corbins are also made of leather that breath better, so you are ass don't sweat.
I prefer Corbin. But I also keep a sheep skin over it.

I replaced the POS stock seat on my '05 Ultra at 500 miles with a Mustang seat and backrest and haven't looked back.
Replace the seat and install a Cee Bailey SSC windshield and you will be amazed at the luxury your bike is capable of providing. No kidding, a completely transformed ride.
As berseker mentioned, the Mustang will raise you up a bit. They have earned a good reputation for customer service. Corbin is good when they are good but their quality control and customer service can be terrible, a luck of the draw kind of thing.

I spend an incredible amount of time here reading the various threads and I want to thank you guys for: saving me money, costing me money, and tips on just about everything in between. Maybe now I can help someone else.
I couldnt ride more than an hour before I got "bikers Butt" and when I used an Airhawk, it would prolong it but not eliminate it. After a 550 mile ride, I was so sore I could hardly walk. Thats when I isolated the pain to my tailbone.
I'm kind of a do it myselfer so I researched a few webpages and decided what I needed was less padding where my tailbone hits. This site I found was invaluable in what I did to "cure" the problem. http://www.diymotorcycleseat.com/
I followed the instructions to take apart the stock seat. I just removed the staples from the riders area as now my wife could have the Airhawk. I found the seat has a very firm base to it with a light pad on top of it. Also it had a very shallow depression in the base where the tailbone would be located. (You cant feel it thru the top layer). I proceeded to get out a Dremel and just made the depression deeper. I added about 1/2 " in depth to it. The cut out area is about 2" wide and 4" long. Dont worry if it looks like a sharp edge in the foam because the top layer wll cover it and smooth it out. Stretch the cover back over it and staple to suit.
To give it a test, we rode 300 miles and i was very surprised that my tailbone didnt hurt. Now I need to put more staples in because I just put in minimal amount in case I had to dig deeper.
I should have taken pictures but the whole job was over in about 45 minutes. There wasnt enough time to think of it.
Total cost for this job was $3.49 for staples. You will want to use 1/4" staples to reassemble.

I also have a Airhawk seat cushion on my stock 09 SG seat.Im only 180lbs so it works great for me.I have the medium one you would want the large for an ultra glide seat.I picked my up on ebay for $130 if that works for you it beats the hell out of a $400-$500 aftermarket seat and you still might have a sore tail...

I have an 09 Ultra with a Harley Hammock seat. I just finished a trip from LA to Fort Worth Texas. The Hammock seat was fantastic.
One of the days I did over 600 miles with no problem. I know every butt and every seat is different, but for me the Hammock was great.
Here is a link to my post about the trip with pictures

I just purchased one also, Love it! Rode this past weekend, took a 250 mile cruise. When I got back to the house the wife wanted to go for a ride, so we did another 100 miles and she thought it was a great seat too! The one thing I did notice, is now I sit about 1/2-3/4 higher higher; which puts my big butt a little higher in the wind on my RG. I'm 6-3 2

You might want to contact Mean City Cycles in N. Carolina. They rebuilt my 08 Ultra seat using the stock cover and pan for $250.00. The guys take your height, inseam, and weight data and build/shape it to fit the individual rider. It made all the difference when I got it back and put it on. It takes a couple of months to get it done as they're busy (gee, wonder why) but it's worth it and cost effective. They're great people and great craftsmen. I don't have any issues with them or my seat. Check out the v-twin forum posts from others. Most are happy, some are not. www.meancitycycles.com

I purchased a Mustang seat for my Ultra. After a 2,000 mile trip, I took it off and replaced it with the stock seat, just to feel the difference after some break-in time. The Mustang offers much more support, and I don't even shift positions on the seat for the first 60-70 miles. For long trips, I use a sheepskin from Alaska Leathers, which adds tremendously to the comfort.

Got my sheepskin from Alaskan Leathers myself and WOW. Still need to replace the stocker for long trips but for a 100 miler the sheepskin is great. I bought another sheepskin to compare with (clearanced at local shop) and it was terrible. Alaskan Leather can explain why this is. Great product and even better customer service.

I had my stock 07 seat done by these guys. They flattened out the seat to fit my big butt, I'm 6'3" 320 lbs. The Tempurpedic foam is very comfortable and supportive. I could ride for hours with no burning. http://www.g-forcebysevenangels.com/gforceseats.html
