Airhawk

What size best fits an 09' X with a stock seat?
How do you like it?
Thanks. Willy

Airhawk is made by a company (ROHO group) that makes cushions for the paralyzed....These are the BEST SEATS PERIOD...My wife works for a specialized wheelchair company and that is all they use...They last almost forever according to her based on their customers use of them, just DON'T poke a hole in the seat and your good for a LONG time!!

As long as you adjust the air to fit your butt, you can't go wrong....I think she got a medium for here ride (07 Nightster) it might have been a small don't remember.

I have a medium on my SuperGlide. I must say the air hawk is the best cushion I've ever seen. I've had a bad back for years and with the stock seat I could only ride about 30-45 minutes before I had to take a break. I put a Corbin dual touring seat with driver backrest and that increased my riding time to about an hour and a half. I've tried almost every kind of seat pads - sheep skins, beads, gel pads, foam pads - and none of them got me more than about two hours max riding time. Then I got an air hawk and now I can ride for 6 plus hours at a time with no problems. If you're thinking about getting one, I would highly recommend it - best seat cushion you can find in my opinion.

Airhawk

I have an ultra. I selected the one WITHOUT the big tounge on the front. I think this would be the next one down from the largest available.

How do I like it? It took me a long time to get used to it. I started out with WAY too much air in it. I kept letting air out, riding, let more air out, riding,..... until I thought it was about flat (it certainly looked flat when I wasn't on the bike). That's where it came to life and is really nice. I'd say there is no more than 1/4 inch between me and the seat but it is a precious 1/4 inch of air. I can't do without it. The one thing I also learned was to pull it BACK quite a ways so that it doesn't push up between your legs. That keeps it from pushing up on the stuff between your legs (something I found to be uncomfortable)....it's a good thing I didn't get the one with the big tounge on it or I would not have been able to make this adjustment.

It has great ventilation (no sweating), takes the vibration out (you know the zing feeling you have just before you get off to get gas - that's gone forever) and confoms to your butt perfectly. At one time I thought I'd do 200 miles without it just to see what it was like before I got it. I pulled it out of the saddle bag and it was back on the bike at the first refuling.

The only two downsides I can say is that it makes you sit a little higer on your bike so if you are aleady on your toes at the stop sign you might not like this part of it and it is probably pretty easy for some jerk to steal from you. I always take mine off for the day and put it in my saddle bag when spending the day at a place like a rally or concert. BTW, I only use the back strap...I don't bother with the front one.

Lastly, I bought one (a rectangle) for the passenger's seat. My wife loves it.

In this case, you get what you pay for.

Thumbs up

I have nothing but good to say about the Airhawk also. Once adjusted correctly, it beats any gel, sheepskin, beads, etc. etc. It feels squishy when sitting on it, but that's just the air moving around within the chambers. Best part is, no more hot spots - as long as you don't bottom out, you're always sitting on a nice cushion of air. For long distances, there is nothing better.

I would recommend going with the cruiser-medium instead of the large too.
