My input on seats

Sorry to start a new thread but I wanted to let everyone know my opinion on seats as the topic comes up a lot. I have an 08 FXDC and took the stock seat off the day I bought the bike. Put on a Mustang wide vintage solo with drivers backrest. I had the same seat on an earlier bike and loved it. Did not like it on the FXDC. So I researched and read for a long time and decided to take a chance and cough up the money for a Danny Grey solo seat. It cost $450 (I had the Willie G skull embroided into the seat and put the gel pads in)...but the service was AMAZING, the seat looks amazing and I just got back from 250 mile ride and it is the comfortable seat I have ever ridden on. I have tried a lot of seats but in my humble opinion this seat blows the others away and looks amazing and the best customer service ever. WORTH EVERY PENNY.

My experience exact opposite....

I had a Danny Gray Weekday 2 Up, and after a 300 mile ride was ready for something else. Replaced it with Mustang Fastback and it is a keeper.....just goes to show you there is no one seat for all butts.

Badger Solo

Many years ago I bought a Badger solo which I really liked the look and comfort of. When I started with the back trouble I tried numerous expensive seats with riders back rests that there are. Corbin....poor service, too big for the look of the bike and rock hard. Yeah I know with time it would have molded to my growing azz size. Mustang....that was a nice seat but huge and looked even worse on the dyna. After a few Harley seats and other aftermarkets I pulled the old dusty badger off the shelf and sent it to Rich's Custom seats. Rich repadded the seat keeping the same profile, shaped it for better thigh and back support, installed a Gel Pad and installed a riders backrest that is removable and installed by just pulling it up or pushing it in on a heavy duty detent ball. He then coverd it in glove soft leather and stitched it up real nice. It is the best seat I've ever had on a bike and it looks good to. No sacrafice of one for the other. A trip to Nova Scotia told the real story. The seat is long term comfortable with no hot spots.

Guess it's just the individuals bottom, but(t) I replace the stock Badlander on My Night Train with the DG Butt Crack. Did a 6hr there 6hr back ride this weekend and had a comfortable ride. only stopped for gas and one smoke. I loved it. First time I could ride for over 30 min with out looking for a reason to take a break, or having a couple of raspberries at the end of a long ride.
DG makes comfortable and beautiful seat IMHO.

Glad you like yours too.

Late to the party...

I have to agree that one size does not fit all. I've had everything from a couple of different H-D seats (small & hard, and big padded touring), couple different Corbins, a Drag Specialties gunfighter-style, and a Mustang Cobra.

My butt loves the Corbin Dual Touring seat like nobody's business. "Butt Burn" is non-existent with this seat. I still have the Mustang, which looks great on the bike, but it is collecting dust. The Corbin feels hard as a rock when you first sit on it, but for some reason, it just fits the contours of my booty & never gets uncomfortable. It looks HUGE, which loses me some cool points (I guess), but who gives a crap? I'm much more about how it feels when I'm riding than what it looks like when it is parked.

I've had seats that made me want to dunk my butt in a barrel of icewater after 30 or 40 minutes of riding, but the Corbin DT is the bomb. Period. Other people complain of how hard they are, but that just goes to show that every caboose is different. My little lady likes it quite a bit, too, and she prefers it to any seat I've had on the bike.

My observation: The "soft" seats feel good for the first half hour, then start to get uncomfortable. The "hard" seats feel uncomfortable for the first few minutes, then you start to forget about the seat at all. It is a non-issue as time goes on, which is ideal for me.

Your mileage may vary.
