Is the Sundowner seat really worth it?
Gents,
I am looking to go on a trip from Mississippi to Richmond, VA to visit my brother and then up to Northern NJ to visit my father later on this year. I am looking at seats since I don't know if my butt will be able to stand the trip on the stock seat (maybe I'm wrong).
I was just wondering:
1) Is the Sundowner seat worth it?
2) How much higher does the passenger pillion sit over the stock seat?
Thanks,
Dave

That was the first thing I bought for my 09 Road Glide. And the stock RG seat ain't that bad. My wife likes the comfort and it sits her up higher so now she can see a lot better.

Seat
I put a Sundowner on my Street Glide. To me it's fine but the wife says the padding in it is still too hard.????

Corbin Dual Tour. The last seat you'll ever need.

I think the seat will be subjective to your but. I have one and can only ride for about 100miles before my but starts burning. I have also had a mustang and still have my corbin dual tourer which gives me the most seat time.
Best thing to do is borrow one from someone to test out or find a cheap one for sale so you can sell it later if you don't like it.

The Dual Tour is really nice, but very firm and about 2x as much as a Sundowner.
Corbin can also be very uncomfortable for those who don't have much natural padding. Bluntly put, if you have a flat ass, Corbin hurts.
Don't get me wrong, I love Corbin, and will put one on the RG soon enough, but for the money its tough to beat a Sundowner.

Wow -really?
Question - and please don't take any offense at this - does your wife's natural seat have a lot of padding or is she more of the bare-bones sport model?

We BOTH love the Sundowner. I have no problem running out a tank on the interstate, but she likes to get off and stretch about every 100 miles. Has more to do with the angle of her knees than a sore butt though.

I can go all day on my Sundowner. My daughter loves the passenger seat, my fiancee, not so much.
Go figure.

Mustang seats are worth looking at
Checkout Mustang vintage touring, Night & day compared to the stock seat on my Road King Classic. No complaints, very comfortable. Passenger is very happy.

I logged a lot of miles on my Mustang touring seat. The only thing I didn't like is that it sat me up too high and move me too far forward.
I have a Corbin Classic Solo now and can right all day, many days in a row.
Corbins need to be broken in, that's for sure. But once you break it in, you'll never have a more comfortable seat. I wish I would have gone to a Corbin 10 years ago.

I bought one for my Road King and it moved me way high and too far forward. I sent it to Mean City Cycles and they modified it to suit me and it is now way better than the stock seat, and way better( for me ) than the stock Sundowner. My advice, for what its worth, is to find someone who has one and beg a ride or at least a sit before you buy any new seat. Or you, like many others, risk having a fairly expensive "stable" of seats in the garage.
