Reach seat

Anyone using one? Any thoughts as to comfort for two-up riding, particularly for long stretches in the saddle?

I have one, but don't find it that comfortable for long rides. My passenger doesn't care for it either during long rides and sometimes I'll put a gel pad on it for her. I find it doesn't provide enough thigh support and the foam compresses down so it almost feels I'm directly on the seat pan. I've been thinking of sending it out to get reworked and maybe add some gel padding. For long rides I ended up gettting a custom made Saddleman Road Sofa that has the same seating position but better thigh and back support. I like it, but even the Road Sofa has its limitations after a long day ride.

Thanks, Gnarl, that was just the kind of information I was looking for. I am supposed to send my stock seat off to Mean City Cycles next week for a rebuild, including dropping the seating position about an inch. I thought that I would check out opinions on the Reach before I shipped my seat out. I think that I will go ahead and get the Mean City rebuild.

I like mine, no issues at all.

I have one on my '07 Ultra. It's not comfortable for long rides and I'm probably going to be looking for some other option soon. I needed this seat due to the fact that I am "inseam challenged" so it was my only option at that time. Mean City will probably be getting a call from me in the near future.

If you go that route, can you let me know how the rebuild goes? I'm thinking of doing that, too.

My seat is at Mean City Cycles right now, with my appointment being this Wednesday. If all goes right (i.e. FedEx delivers it in time), I hope to have it back and installed by the weekend. I would be glad to post my impressions once I get it back.

FWIW, I am getting the memory foam upgrade to the rider seat, and the wide double memory foam to the passenger portion.

OldMsocko is an unknown quantity at this point
When I had my 06 Ultra I used the reach seat on it. I am also vertically challenged and yes you do give up some comfort to get that extra inch. With the reach on the bike I was able to sit flat footed and that was very important to me. My wife and I do alot of long distance touring and found the seat to be tolerable. IMHO I don't care what kind of seat you use, after so many miles it becomes uncomfortable to sit.
