Wide Glide Seat Removal and Replacement

Hello All, Finally got my HD 2002 Wide Glide and wanted to consult with more experienced folks before i switch out my OEM seat. I am assuming that all i have to do is remove the screw on the rear fender and slide the seat back to remove correct? Then i simply slide the new seat (LaPera sillhoutte) onto the bracket and screw into place on the fender correct? (I know, i'm an idiot but better to be safe than sorry!)

Also, the stock backrest should also be easily removed by removing the screws that hold it in place and then replacing the screws correct? (I'm obviously not just an idiot but an insecure one to boot!). Thanks for any assistance.

I have an '02 Low Rider but I assume they are close to the same. The seat is as you say. Remove the the fender screw and pull back. Mine is a tight fit at the front and takes a good bit of down pressure on the front when pushing in the tab at the front of the seat when reinstalling. On my back rest, there are two pieces. One that holds the backrest and the another that holds the backrest. On mine it's easier to remove the back rest support first, then remove one bolt at a time from the fender support and tilt the support up and replace the bolt. The reason for this is that those bolts support the fender and can be a bit of a pain to hold the fender and replace both bolts. The Wide Glide may be different on the backrest so you may be able to just remove the two bolts on each side and pull it out. It's not difficult at all. You'll be be swapping heads and cams before you know it. I'd highly recommend purchasing the Harley service manual before you get that far though.
