Initial thoughts on Mustang 1 piece touring...
...on my 08 SG.
I'm 5'10" 265lbs with a 30" inseam, for reference.
I've put about 4 hours on the saddle so far, and I really like it. It does move me forward I would say maybe an inch, and up and inch or so, but I've heard once the foam "settles" it will be the same height as the stock seat. It also makes you sit straight up, due to a more pronounced seperation b/w rider seat and passenger pillion, and now my 8" cheapie windscreen puts the wind right on my eyeballs, and with the stock seat it was a little above my eyes. The nose of the seat is narrower than stock, so it is easier for to put my feet down.
The seat fit very nicely up against the tank, with no gap (as I'd read other people having issues here). The quality of construction and stitching were top notch. Installed in 5 min with no wrangling at all, slipped right in.
The only downside I can think of is that it is big. Kind of messes of the SG's lines in some peoples eyes, but my comfort is more important than what someone else thinks.
The wife really likes the pillion, very comfy she says with no pressure points.
Hope this helps anyone looking for seats, and I'll probably update in a month or so.
Ride safe.

I put the one piece touring classic on my RK about 2 years ago and it has been great. Samwe thing you said about 1" foreward but that didn't take too long to get used to. My wife too likes the pillion, a lot better than the stock. Good riding.

Hi Guys,
When you say the seat puts you an inch forward, do you mean more forward than the stock seat? Do you know if Mustang has any seats that let you sit further back?
I ask because I currently run a Badlander seat on my '01 Road King Classisc and I love the position it puts me in, which is about 1-2" further back than the stock seat. However my wife cannot stand the little passenger "bump" for more than a few miles. So I'm looking for a seat that puts me where I like to sit, yet has a more comfortable passenger area or pillion. I've been reading through a lot of these forum posts about Mustang, Corbin, Danny Gray, etc .. and find I am only more confused about what to get.
So far judging soley on looks from pictures, I like the Corbin Classisc Solo with the large Pillion Pad, but several folks here have had negative things to say about Corbin as far as comfort, and apparently they need to be "broken in".
What a PITA this is. I sure hate to spend $400-$600 on a seat then find I don't like it. I guess I'll just have to bite the bullet, cross my fingers, and choose one.

Mustang 2-pc. Wide Classic
...on '05 XL 1200 C
Best money I ever spent.
The Sportster seats seem to be legendary for poor design and comfort.
The Mustang is wider (at 15" front and 10" rear), and has a well-designed back support without a fold-up 'extra'.
The passenger pillion is signicantly thicker, wider and not reverse-sloped.
Great-quality mounting hardware, and the passenger seat overlaps the rear portion of the front to provide even more lower-back support.
I'm 6', 210 lbs, 31" inseam...and wondering why The Motor Company doesn't work a deal with Mustang for OEM seats.
It seems nuts to have to spend that extra $ 400 just to have a seat that's usable for over 100 miles.

I have an 06 1200C and my seat is stock and killing me. I've been contemplating the Mustang but I don't want to sit any closer than I am now as it is I need extenders for my controls. Hate to spend the money and not be happy...I'm confused with all of it, too much info I think...

Yes, I agree. Seems rediculous the stock seats suck so bad. I'm still confused too....

I just had our stock Ultra Classic seat rebuilt by Mean City Cycles. We figured out when we did a week of long distance touring (400-525 miles a day) that the stock seat was worn OUT. What a world of difference. Spent something like $385 to have gel pads and memory foam done, front & rear. Wifey is in love with the new seat, I'm not in pain after an hour, and it's still got the anniversary logo and all. Money well spent, these guys do a top notch job.

Same thing with the stock grips and foot pegs. They almost just expect you to change them out

I'm one of the odd ones that the Mustang 1 piece just didn't work for. I'm 5'9", 32" inseam, just shy of 200lbs. It was never comfortable for me, and my wife much preferred the stock FLHT saddle. It was always a bit too tall (mine never settled height wise, and I put 3-4K on it), and I would be squirming after 100 miles. Bummer, it's a quality piece and I thought it looked ok on the FLHT. But there you go, everyone's ass is different. I think Mustang offers a trial period, which is great - if you don't buy slightly used, like I did!
I recently got a Russell Day Long from member SeaHag, can't wait to try it out. Hopefully it will be the answer to my seat conundrum.

One thing I don't like about the Mustang seats, is that they aren't made of real leather. Can you say butt sweat? Real leather breathes and tends to be more comfortable. Also, because the seat moves you forward, you might find yourself sitting partially on the back rest in an effort to get more leg room. It isn't comfortable if you do this, obviously.

6'2" 265 32 inch inseam I just replaced the seat on my 08 1200 coustom with the wide touring model. When I first put it on the seating position seamed a little different but within 50 miles it seamed natural. before at about 50 miles I would have to stop and walkaround to stop my back from hurting. did 150 miles today with no problem.
+1 for mustang
