Comfort Max Gel Pads (Ortho)

Put a Mustang seat on my 2000 Electra Glide about 5 years ago. It was a big improvement over my stock seat (numb legs), but I didn't realize over these five years, it was making me slide back and basically sit on my tailbone. Last year, my riding was limited to about 1000 painful miles (compared to 9000+ per year in Midwest).

The pain had gotten to the point where I couldn't sit in my lazy boy without feeling like a broomstick was being shoved up my spine.

After seeing Orthopedic back specialist and steroid treatment, nothing improved and he said nothing was really wrong. Try accupunture, this eliviated pain, but eventually came back. Finally have seen a chiropracter and now it's getting close to normal! I've taken the bike out a few times around the neighborhood and such to see how it feels and getting closer. A 50 mile trip a few weeks ago had to have a lot of stops (I remember when a daily 300 mile trip was nothing). I also put on stock seat to see differece, it makes me sit up straight, but get some weird leg feelings still with this seat.

To make a long story short, I don't want to spend a boatload of money trying every seat on the market and have limited funds right now after losing job and taking pay cut for new job. I found an ad on the back of V-Twin magazine for Comfort Max Gel Pads. It has an ortho cusion with hollowed out back, similar to a cusion I use at work that eliminates tailbone pain. Has anyone out there used this pad? You can view at http://www.amspecialtiesusa.com/gelpad.htm

I'm just sick of tired of seeing my bike sit in garage and when I see everyone out riding on a nice day, I want to breaking things! My wife has gone out on her ride a few times, but she feels guilty going out without me, but I told her to go out and enjoy it, I would if I could.

I had the same one. It was bigger than the seat, I sent it back and got the "large" one. It set me up to high really wasn't all that comfortable. The one thing that impressed me was how nice the sheepskin performed. Riding in 100+ really kept the butt drier compared to the nonbreathing "leather" seat. I recently purchased a Mustang seat and can't imagine sitting even higher than the seat already does.

Having said that I am sitting on it right now. Its great for the computer chair.
