If you wind up in Maggie Valley, the Best Western is nice. Fridge in the room, bikes parked right in front of your room. Rocking chairs out front. Great pizza delivery just a couple blocks away.

I was in that area last month and enjoyed it very much. I stayed at 3 places while I was there and liked http://www.twowheelinn.com/ the best.
I didn't like pigeon forge at all, too much tourist junk for my taste. I went for a 2 wheel vacation and Robinsville is a good location for that type a vacation. the blue ridge parkway, the tail of the dragon and the cherohala skyway are all very close by.

Oldmic, my son and I rode down there last year and stayed here. It's a couple miles from Deal's Gap.

Coming soon
Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. My lady friend and i are leaving on the 21st. from Ocean City,nj. I plan to be in robbinsville,nc by Tuesday afternoon. Staying one night somewhere on the way down, probibly about 500 miles out, then going the rest of the way to Robbinsville Tuesday. Staying at the Two Wheelin Inn for 2 nights then heading back on Thursday. I just wish i had more time. Going to try and do the Tail & Parkway. Only cause thats what i have heard about. But up for any local suggestions as well.
Thats the plan.
Almost made it down there last year ,but, plan got derailed half way down due to weather. Got to finish this ride!!!!!!!! You know?

Doing the Dragon and the Cherohala Skyway will take a go 6 hours at a leisurely pace....Then you will have all kinds of time to ride the local rural roads....Just FYI becareful on the NC rural roads, their patching of them really makes for a dangerous ride....Wife wrecked a couple of weeks ago now due to their poorly maintained rural roads...Patches, potholes and such...Cherohala is an excelent ride but once you leave the main portion of it you will instantly notice a difference, same goes for the Dragon....
Enjoy and by all means avoid Pigeon Forge it is a traffic nightmare....
Another local ride that would be a good one would be 25E up towards Newport, or ride Hwy 70 down through Lenoir City and then down to Watts Bar Lake....All kinds of good riding around, just depends what you want...twisties, straight roads with rural areas just pick it....

Great trip to Robbinsville,nc
Well i got back safe from Robbinsville & the Dragons tail. The bike did great. Me and my lady are still friends. The roads where incredable. 2000 miles all together. Now i`m just trying to get back to my life in this rat race in Jersey where the roads suck. Can`t wait to get back on the road. You know?
Here are some pixs.
