National VTF members meeting

There have been several members across the country expressing an interest lately about meeting up in person. Let's start a real discussion about this and see what we can come up with.

I would begin by proposing a very general idea.

*Pick a spot in the midsection of the US
*Post some suggested dates
*Assess the interest (in terms of numbers)
*Narrow the plan down to a specific location that can accommodate everyone
*Ride, ride, ride

I'll start.

Let's have a general meet-up for members and any friends and significant others who would like to attend.

A 2 or 3 night stay would give time to have a proper meeting and allow for those who may only be able to make a day visit at the beginning or the end.

Something within a 200 mile radius of Kansas City seems pretty neutral and central but we can adjust location based on where the farthest members would be coming from.

My wife and I go to a rally in Panama City Beach, FL and visit friends along the Gulf Coast each spring at the end of April. We could add a week to that trip and say plan this event for late April or early May. This is just a starting point for discussion, any time could be made to work.

The floor is open. Let's hear some ideas.

KC is cool. But I'm thinking that it can be a little tough to ride in the alley that time of year.

WEINERDOGBONE wants to know Dino or Syn?
I think that would be a lot of fun. Thermodyne has a point about the weather. Late April is usually dicey around here for MC travel unless you're going south. I'd do it though.

I was just starting the conversation with that. We could try another month.

Maybe someone could bring me a (covered) trailer to borrow. Whether I melt or float, it ain't pretty.

April is cool, both literally and figuratively, speaking. With that said, I prefer the south - the deeeep south - as the weather seems to be a widget for many to workaround.

My suggestion is Alabama, perhaps somewhere scenic and safe like Gulf Shores. Allow me to explain:
  1. Hey! Remember me saying "the deeeep South"...
  2. which is not too hot at that time
  3. Seafood
  4. Bikinis
  5. Oceanview and surf sounds
  6. Bikinis
  7. Heavenly white stuff (sand)
  8. Vs. evil white stuff (snow)
  9. Oh, did I mention BIKINIS

It's also a hop & skip off of a major interstate (I-10) that runs left coast to right coast - easy to hit, and a quick getaway from <G-Men>, you know...in case anything nefarious goes down.

I'm good to go right now! The Train is itching for some mileage! Who's with me???

With numerous trip to Gulf Shores under my belt (the last being Oct 2013), I have yet to see eye candy in any quantity. The vast majority of bikini wearers are showing way to much flesh because they have way to much flesh to show.

And I'll be headed there again for Labor Day. I can't stand the beach, but the wife loves it.

I think he means tourists, you old pervert. It doesn't much matter which though, does it? If you just want bikinis, where's your nearest water park?

KC area would work for sure. i would be setting out from home on the bike
and MN is often still covered in snow in april, a tad later in the year would be
better. these are just early thoughts and perhaps a bit selfish on my part.

we have ample time to hammer something out, i'm sure this thread will roll plenty.

Good point made (albeit unintentionally) about combination of weather and location. I'd be all for a beach casino location like Pensacola or Biloxi, but probably not in July or August.

So, are Joe, Scrubs and AlanS on the list for real interest in this thing?

This is usually code for "I'll deal with that later". We do have time, let's use it wisely.

I AM, PM 2 U.

I guess Scrubs is in, as long as there's a water park or a Slip-n-Slide nearby.

Scrubs just got back on the road. Maybe "slip-n-slide" should be avoided for a while.

Depends on the date, location and my offshore work schedule.

Is anyone gonna laugh at me when I pull up on the piglet?
