Anyone ever stay at the Two Wheel Inn in Robbinsville, NC?
Gents,
I am planning a trip from where I am stationed in Mississippi to visit my brother in Richmond, VA in the beginning of August. I am going to go there via the Cherohala Parkway on the way up and then on the way home I am going to visit 129 (the Dragon).
Anyway, my question is: Has anyone ever stayed at the Two Wheel Inn in Robbinsville ( www.twowheelinn.com )?
How many rooms do they have?
How did you like it?
How much lead time do you have to give for reservations?
Do you have any pictures of it?
Thanks in advance!!
Dave

We are staying there this Thursday & Friday...There are 13 rooms and although I have never been before, all reviews I've read have been favorable. Only complaints were that the people wished they had stayed longer.
I booked about two months ago and they had just gotten a reservation for 7 of the rooms, we only needed 4 so it was fine. They charged for the one night up front. There are a few pictures on their website.

Stayed there a couple years ago. Nothing fancy. The rooms were clean and the garages were really nice to have. Two baggers in one of the garages made for a pretty tight fit though. It's a mom & pop operation and the owners were very nice. Keep in mind that Robbinsville is in a dry county so if you're thinking about having a beer or three at the end of the day's riding, you'll need to bring it in with ya. IIRC, the rooms have small refrigerators in them. Overall a nice place to stay.
Location is great for hitting the dragon and all the other riding in the area. Check out hellbender ( www.hellbender28.com). Where the dragon is all tight turns, hellbender is more 40 - 50 mph sweepers.

I was there a few years ago in 06' and went there two weeks ago on a Thursday night without a reservation. They had a room available but would not suggest going there without a reservation. A single room was $60 and I like staying there as it's an affordable place to stay in that area. I believe there's around 40 to 50 rooms.

Oh I thought she said there were 13 rooms total...must have meant 13 rooms available at the time I booked ours.

We stayed there in July 2009. What a great little place. Nice clean rooms. Excellent service. Very helpful folks! We have stayed there before and this time it was even better than the last time.
Individual secure garages next to each room that fit a motorcycle with room to spare. It is located just two miles from Robbinsville, NC which is a very nice friendly small town.
Great central location for riding destinations. Cherahola Skyway, Blue Ridge Parkway and the Dragon is just down the road.
I would highly recommend this place for the motorcycle enthusiast.

I stayed at the Punking or Pumkin campground on the north side of Dragon. Had cabin. Was nice enough. Though you had to clean the place yourself before you left. They had beer by the gallon and 1/2 gallon in milk jugs. Beer joint couple miles away.
Sure if hard to find a drink down there in 1930s.

We loved Two Wheel Inn, I think they should have something like this in every town. Yeah we drove to Andrews to get beer the first night but picked some up near the Tail the second night. It was more expensive near the Tail..oh well.
