Arkansas (Eureka Springs)
Planning a bike trip to Arkansas (6 days) last week of June. Going to stay in Eureka Springs and ride from there each day. Have heard that the “Rodeway Inn - Swiss Holiday Resort” is a good place to stay. Anyone stay there or have other suggestions? My wife will be with me on the trip. Thanks

Haven't stayed there, but I did visit Eureka Springs last summer.
Lots of great roads to ride there, and they are reasonably well taken care of. However, opportunities to pull off and take pictures are few and far between. Dont' miss riding the Pig Trail.

I've stayed at the Country Mountain Inn in ES 3-4 times and am going again in mid June. Nice place with reasonable prices. I do understand it has been sold but hope the new owners contain the good service.

Thanks for the info Ed or should I say Master Chief. My son is an ex-marine currently in BUDS training, phase 3. Don't know where he gets it from, ex-air force myself.

Claydbal,
Thanks for the info. I have read a number of your posts in the exhaust section. I currently have the "Monster Ovals or ??" post, any suggestions?

My wife and I have stayed at the Rodeway Inn. The owner is a rider himself and has something like a 1000 acre ranch there. Great guy and knows the area so well, he will plot out rides for you based on time (2-3hr, 1/2 day, full day, etc) The motel was clean, well kept and had easy access. Pool and hot tub in back, liquor store across the street and outside entry ground floors so you can sit in front of your room after a long day and watch traffic.

Ray, formerly of CMI, is running the rodeway (I think) He is a great guy, busts butt to make sure everybody is happy.
Ed are you going to be at CMI during the week of June 15-18? I will be there too, along with several friends...

I'll be there (with a bunch of friends) the weekend before (11-14 June). I agree, Ray was great when he was at the CMI, however, some issues developed with him after he left. No need to go into that here. I'd just be cautious in dealing with him. JMHO

Ed, sent an e-mail to CMI requesting additional info. Got no response so far. Is it walking distance to Eureka Springs? Any food, resturants close by?

Considering the new owners just recently took over, email might be slow. I'd call. It's not really within walking distance of downtown ES but ES has a super small transit system that covers anyplace you want to go from CMI. Since CMI is kinda on the east side outskirts of ES, not much in the way of food real close. You'd probably have to go a mile or two.

We stayed at the Best Western right where you turn to go downtown last October. Free breakfast and an area to wash bikes with buckets towels etc. Hot tub was excellent and the pool was heated. Be sure and go to the Cathouse downtown. Forgot to mention rates are alot cheaper during the week...

I agree with the comments on the Country Mountain Inn, it was a great place for our gathering last June and I am looking forward to being there again in a couple of months!
Ed - You should stay over in ES until Monday and say howdy. Going to be very large group of people arriving on Sunday afternoon, most of whom are still active here
