From there, you are not far from Washington-on-the-Brazos where Texas was founded. You could then cut over to Austin and check out the city for as much time as you have available. After that, you would be on the northern side of Hill Country and could cut over to Fredericksburg, do the Willow City Loop and then over to Camp Wood for the famous "Twisted Sisters". Wrap your day up in Luckenbach and then strike out for Corpus and the Gulf.
How does that sound? I'll be happy to help map some of these routes out for you if you like. I've spent several years uncovering the best of what the Texas Hill Country has to offer and I'm still finding new stuff every month

What he said! If you find yourself in Austin, I'm always up for a ride. Willow City Loop is one of my favorites as are the Sisters.(FM 335, 336, 337) From there, I would head for the border. The ride along hwy 90 between Del Rio and Big Bend National Park is a good one. (make sure to get gas when you can) I haven't been down South Padre but Padre Island and Port Aransas are alright for an overnight. (not a lot to see there IMHO)
Being a midwest boy, I'd suggest eating your steak up north. The corn fed beef is more tender. The BBQ down here can't be beat though!!! There's a great little place in Bandera that is along the main drag. Some of the best ribs and brisket that I've ever had. Bandera is real close to the sisters, so you might find yourself in the area.
Be careful and ride safe!
