Virginia Beach Advice
Planning a ride to Virginia Beach for the first time.
Any lodging suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Someplace where the bikes would be somewhat safe.
Also if you have any ride suggestions, that would be likewise appreciated.

Not sure why none of the VA Beach riders have replied, and I am from about 60 miles west of the metro area, so can't really give you places to stay, but suspect that most anything along Atlantic Ave. (Beach Road) would be safe, but relatively expensive. Many riders go west out of the Metro area along rt 10 on west side of James River, take the Surry free Ferry across the river to Jamestown/Williamsburg from Scotland Neck; pick up the Colonial Parkway to Yorktown. Look for the Yorktown Pub for a great lunch with many other bikers. Not sure when you are coming, but this may help. Have a great trip.

va beach
april 23-26 is outer banks bike rally, about an hour and a half south of the beach. nice riding and the hd dealer at va beach I believe is a sponsor. google it! I live west of Richmond and only stayed on the ocean front once a long time ago...cant remember the name of the hotel. The yorktown Pub has good food and good prices also, as mentioned. At the beach you have Knuckleheads, next to harley on witchduck rd., and boneshakers on general booth blvd. Food and beer joints. Good cabin fever run to blow out the cobb webs..I have some friends comming down from LI, we're heading to the OBX.

Best pizza in Hampton Roads is at Azalea Inn on Little Creek Road. Ask for the extra cheese.

Thanks for the pizza advice, but I am from New York City. Fuggeddaboutit. I don't think I could do it.
It would be like my friend from Georgia coming up here and dining at "Rocco and Luigi's Southern Home Cooking"

I'll ditto the Jamestown Fairy route. Great ride. The food at the Yorktown Pub isn't great, but it is on the river and a good lunch. There are usually several bikes parked out front.

From NYC?? What route are you taking down. I ride there 2-3 times a year.
13 to the bridge/tunnel is very nice. Just watch the hotspots with speeding there. There are a bunch of dealers on the way down as well you can stop at if you want t-shirts or anything. You can also take the ferry from cape may which is a nice 1.5 hour break from riding and you can eat.
Cant help you with where to stay as i have family down there. My friends stayed at the huge hotel on VA beach blvd last year asd liked it. Was pricey, but nice and very secure for the bikes. Go to boneshakers for drinks. Also if you like mexican food guatelahara(sp?) is the best i have had.

Thanks TX.
That is the way we are going.
We are going down the NJ Turnpike first, meeting another guy near Exit 7 somewhere, then continuing to 13.
If everyone is on time and traffic is not a mess, we may take 113 south until it meets up with 13.

I make the trip to the outer banks twice a year and I highly recommend 113 instead of 13 through Delaware and Maryland. Rt 13 is way too crowded and there is alot of local shopping traffic. Rt 113 is much more rural south of Milford and alot less traffic lights. Rt 113 does get crowded on Saturday mornings during the summer with the Delaware beach traffic so avoid it at this time of the week.
