Need Help Fly n ride Miami(?) to Keys?

Can anyone give me a little direction?

4 of us want to do a fly n ride from Miami (not set in stone, if a better start point we are open to it) to the Keys with lots of interesting stops in-between in April sometime.

I don't know where to even start.

Any suggestions?

Perhaps fly into Orlando? Then ride over to Daytona and then follow the coast alllllllllllllll the way to the Keys?

For something different try HD of Fort Myers for your rental. You could ride down across us-41 and enjoy that way way over. If time allows stop by everglades city area and Chokoloskee to see some of whats left of old florida and maybe spend a night at The Rod and Gun Club there. Also ride the mountians of Marco island, Really... Go in on county 92 off us-41 and after you get to were the land opens up there is a high ridge that is 150 feet or so high and curvey off to the left.

Kinda depends on what you are looking to do and how much time you have. Miami has some nice sightseeing but the only thing worse than the crime is the drivers/traffic. Not a good place to be anywhere near rush hour.

The Keys could be seen in 1 day if all you want to do is ride down to Key West and back. If you are into sightseeing, sampling the local dining, having a brew or two and enjoying the ocean then you could easily spend 4-7 days in the Keys. For more info, check out:

Keys Guide

If you are coming to Florida to do nothing but ride you will probably be a bit disappointed. It is very flat and winding roads are not the norm. The best scenery is along the shoreline and most of that has been developed with homes, condos and hotels.

I have to agree with Maj on this one. I've made the mistake of going through Miami and I'll never do that again.

I'd fly into Ft. Meyers and pick up a bike at H-D of Fort Meyers which is only a short cab ride from the airport. Then I'd head south to Naples and across the Everglades on US 41.

If travel dates are flexible, I'd suggest hitting Key West the last week in April as that's their Independence celebration week and there's a bit more going on than most other weeks.

Fly into Fort Myers and rent there. If you want to stay low traffic head inland to hiway -29 and head south to us-41 from there. Great ride across us-41 and side trip through Marco Island and ride the hills there,(yes there are hills) and ride down to everglades city and chokoloskee.
