So I went & joined the local H.O.G. (Brunswick, NY Chapter), attended the Sunday AM, meeting & joined in on the first annual "Bug Run."
Each rider (21 total) got a 3/4" diameter sticker to put in a strategic spot on the front of his/her scoot, & the person with the most "Bug Splats" on their sticker got a $20 gift certificate to a local leather shop...

After the meeting, we took a run from BHD to the Eastern Portal of the Hoosac tunnel in Florida, Ma...
About a 55 mile ride each way...

Took NY7 to VT9 To VT100 & down Tunnel Rd to the portal...
Beautiful country roads...little traffic & a pretty cool (literally) look into the tunnel. Built over a 22 year period, 1852-1874, it's the longest tunnel in the US - 4.75 miles - East of the Rockies...
First place Nitroglycerine was used in this country for excavation...
Almost 200 men died during this endeavor, including 2 who were killed during the first nitro blast...

Anyhoo, made the 55 mile run back down MA2 to MA/NY43 & then NY66 to Jack's - a small hamburger stand famous for their "sliders"...
Grilled burgers with fried onions on em - so greasy, you can pretty much swallow em without chewing! Mmm-mmm-mmm!
We then checked the stickers & out of 21, only one got hit...Mine is still clean enough to use for next year

All in all a good day weather-wise & I got some time in the saddle with some new biker friends...
I got me an official HOG t-shirt & plan on attending as many rides as I can from now on...
'Course most of em will hafta be next year...

Life is good!
