Harley Leather Jackets
Need a good basic riding jacket. I have been looking at Foxcreek, but are some of the Harley jackets, $400 or so, really well designed & quality leather?

They are good but you are paying for the name of course. Heavy Duty is good as well. Depends what you want and what the temperatures you ride in are like. I have a coat with a good zip out lining and no frills. The neck insert is a good feature. A coat is like a good pair of boots, try it on and see how it fits.

Foxcreek is a little less money than the Harley jackets. Is the Foxcreek leather (looks to be very heavy duty) really that much better andbetter designed / fit? Or is the Harley very overpriced?

To be honest I think they are overpriced. I can't justify it. There are lots of good quality jackets out there with the same grade of leather that are cheaper. Same with their pants and other stuff. I was going to get a pair of pants for my wife (she feels the cold easily) and I looked at theirs and forget it. There is a local shop in town that sells good product for 20 to 30 percent less. I have a buddy that has been in leather business for a lot of years and he says the the same. Mine is like the Classic Motorcycle Jacket by Fox Creek.

I have man made fiber jacket/ removable liner from H-D, $200 + $30 to have it "taylored" to fit {there was about 5" to much in the waist}.
Its lighter and warmer than my H-D "Denver" jacket.

FoxCreek is one of a few USA companies that make high quality leathers.
I just bought some Elkskin gauntlets from Aerostich that are made right here in the good ole USA and they are damn nice!!

I have a thing about buying products made in the USA. All Harley's stuff is made in some podunk 3rd world country anymore. A leather jacket should fit you snugly to keep out the wind. Harley's jackets were very generic & loose fitting.
I shopped high & low for my jacket & paid a few return shipping fees too. I ended up with a Vanson Model C2. Great basic jacket, thick leather & fits perfect after being broken in. It's worth the high price.
I tried Fox Creek & they are well worth the money I just happened to get a size too big & sent it back (can't beat their warranty & customer service) when i found the Vanson.
It's hard to find good thick quality leather & even harder to find it made in the USA.

Ditto the comment on the HD jackets. My wife got one because it's more "femanine" but it's freakin' paper thin and made in a county I never heard of! An I'm a GD college graduate! I have the Fox Creek (made in the good ol' USA) jacket and it weights 9 pounds. What I did as far as size is bought 2 and kept the one I like the fit best.

Leatherup.com has good prices. Can't comment on quality... its been 2 months and my jacket has been backordered another 4 weeks
I like how they claimed to be the only wholesaler to manufacture their own jackets in the US. But if you read deeper into their site, they are made oversees. Maybe they meant USA, China; which is just outside Beijing.

HD clothing for 30% off.
the trick to getting the clothing prices without emailing them is put the clothing part number followed by /000L this would be 3 zeros followed by the size, in this case L for large.
good luck and ride safe.

FOX CREEK! $ for $, lb. for lb., they are a damm fine deal. They offer high quality products, and exceptional service with plain old fashion customer satisfaction. If you have a fit problem, they will work WITH YOU, just give them a call.

Not that I'm pushing Harley stuff, but mine says Made in USA & it's a newer one (basic skin model). Are you saying this label is bullshit?? BTW I got mine off of eBay for 75.00
