It is getting to be that time of the year, especially here in Virginia. The weather is getting warmer and more time is being spent outdoors. My coworkers, Terri and Melinda, are itching to get on their bikes.
What do you do for summer riding gear? Do you wear leather all the time for protection? Maybe just a vest? Or do you prefer a textile material?
So far, so good. Inner and outer pockets are big enough and usable. Recommended fit was spot-on. Quality is outstanding and it's made in USA.
So far, just worn it posing. People seem impressed. Nubile young women flock to me. Thinking about a cordura do-rag to match. Seems sturdy enough that I'll have good protection if I fall down drunk.
I wear lether until it gets above 85F down here, Tee shirt is all you can stand after that.
it will stay in the 90s+ for 2 or 3 months here and it can be like riding in a blast furnace...even the breeze is hot. Not that I am complaining...I like heat...bring it on.
But there is a point that I loose the protective gear for comfort
My summer jackets/cuts have an attachment that lets it hang open in front & admit air.
I do it with dog chain based clips that hold the jacket slightly open.
Anyone else prefer ventilation with their protection?
Am certain: that if enough of us contact Fox Creek with our preferences, they will make a jacket we can buy.

If enough of us buy it, they will continue to do so.
I commute 36 miles (congested freeways) in Phoenix.
In the dead of winter, lol (high 20s) I wear leather jacket (HD Competition III) with liner. As the season warms, I remove the liner.
High 80s is my limit for the leather. After that, I wear mesh (Joe Rocket, Phoenix 5.0) with liner. When the lows are in the high 60s, I ditch the liner.
So far I'm still wearing the mesh (low 100s - highest so far is 103). I'll see how long I can wear the mesh this summer. I suspect when the highs hit 110, I'll ditch the mesh and drive the truck with A/C.
In the heat of the summer (110-122) I restrict rides to weekend morning fun rides (lows in mid 90s) and wear t-shirt, jeans, helmet, gloves and boots.
I have been wearing the Kevlar/mesh "Draggin' shirt" in hot weather. Ventilates well when moving, not too hot when still, and Kevlar protection... in long sleeve shirt, not a jacket. Like it better than a mesh jacket. Cooler, lighter and better ventilated with same or better protection (assuming no armor in jacket). Available in yellow(which turns a more tan color after sun exposure) or in black. Armor is available, though I don't use it with the shirt.
