i have bought 2 skull cap helmets one was a cheap nock off german skull cap helmet, my problem is they all look rediculous, there huge and bulky they fit fine but the are like 5 inches of padding all the way around and my head looks like a planet, ive seen guys with the german helmet that dont seem to have much pading and fit to there heads more same with the general skull caps i want somthing that is more low profile and everything i try on in the stores is the same bs. any hlpe would be apreciated
Just keep and wear them.....the Rick Moranis/Darth Vader look is coming back into style. Quite a few riders around here wear the same helmet that you bought. Looks good!
So your looking for help from cyber space to decide what looks good on you head. Did you not look in a mirror when you bought the two helmets. Good luck.
Life is a Bitch trying to be a real biker, I tell you what why dont you go to Google and type in frenchy helmets, I beleave your looking for the one that says Novelty. now dont get the one with the little visor, your riding a Motorcycle not a horse.
Different brands of helmets fit different also. I bought two or three of the helmets online and they didn't fit. Too round in design when my head is more oval. Ended up buying a clearance helmet at a MOCO dealer and it fits great. If you are married to buying online, go to a few shops that have helmets in stock and see what brand / size works best for you and go from there.
That's what I did. They were too expensive locally so the wife and I found the size that fit and I bought them at Dennis Kirk. I practically got 2 helmets for the price of one. I usually wear a large helmet but the HJC half helmet runs big so we both got medium and they fit perfect.
I believe you are looking for a novelty helmet. Keep in mind they are illegal for street use and are not going to give you any real protection in a crash. Look around at bike events that have vendors and you should be able to find some.
i have the same problem, on my second helmet however it does make my head look bigger it is lite as a feather and for that reason i'll keep it. Most if not all DOT will look big cause of the safety requirements. The one i have is carbon fiber from daytona helmets.
Not sure if you have looked at these Helmets
The Bell Drifter
I bought the one with Leather cover because of the same Big head feeling i got from some of the other Half Helmets. This Helmet is styled like the Swat Assault Helmets you see the ATF and Swat Teams use. I like it because it is very light weight and the smallest over all profile of any Safe Helmet in this class.

berserker Your head is too big. Not much you can do about it. If your really into your looks, get drunk pass out, and have someone do a little grinding.
berserker Put the helmet on, and stick your head in hot tub full of water. It might shrink to form.
:hystria: If your not on the stage as a comedian you missed your calling cause you should be. After that deep-belly laugh I had to walk from the puter for a bit.
If the back door was open I am sure ya woulda heard me! :redrolf::redrolf:
Google the Bell Drifter Helmets They are Styled after Swat assault Helmets and To me one of the best looking Half helmets around.
they have a very small profile and Claim the smallest Profile of any SAFE Half Style helmet. I love the Hide version i got and they have a lot of different ones to choose from.
The drifter has a lot of negative comments about the strap location. I love my HJC helmet, it fits great, looks good and the strap is in the right location.
The ones your seeing people where on the road that you like are not legit. If you get a legal skull cap they will almost all make you look like a d... Head. Although there are some thinner padded ones out there but are you more worried about the way your head looks before it hits the ground or after?
I where a skull cap around town but since my friend flew 25th cuz a cager cut him off. End result his full face saved his ear and face..
Good luck!!
If you live in a helmet state and absolutely want a small profile, you can buy a DOT half helmet- Skid Lid, Vega, etc.. about 2 sizes too small, then tap/crush the liner foam with a ball peen hammer until it's a custom fit. Legal and safe? Nope, but a fairly common means to an end. Some cops are savvy to the practice and will ticket you despite the valid DOT label.
Or, suck it up and get a full face helmet. Can't see your head at all, so no presidential apperance. And when some uninsured dirtbag in a Kia makes an abrupt lane change and bumps you in traffic, it'll protect your brain housing group better and keep you from sniveling about how your jaw was sanded to the bone when you get to the ER.
I believe in and support adult helmet wear choice. And my experiences as an adolescent frequently crashing dirt bikes, 6 years as a Paramedic followed by 20 years as a PA in Emergency Medicine have defended my advice to all- "Guys that don't wear helmets just haven't crashed enough yet". YMMV.
