any of you guys buy boots from leatherup? and if so which ones
oh and i don't care to hear about redwings or other boots made in the usa. I don't have anything agisnt usa made boots it just not what i'm asking about.
I'd never buy any sort of footwear I hadn't tried on. Size and width in shoes/boots is pretty variable. You realize that a EEE in size 9 1/2 is a different width than EEE in size 11 ???
I've tried shoes that were long enough but too narrow in a size 10 D width. And so going to a size 12 D width they're wide enough. I've had EEEE in size 10 that fit in one brand and EEEE in size 12 that won't fit in another brand.
Besides width and length, you need to consider instep (arch) height, how the foot sits in the heel cup.
The only way to assess fit is to try them on and walk around.
To bad we cant change your mind about buying USA. Our country needs to have its people investing in itself.
Sorry cant help you with Leatherup.
My next pair will be Handmade Westco boots. http://www.westcoastshoe.com/wesco/home.asp
The Westcos are custom boots, and most likely a hell of a lot better then something you got off the shelf. Just depends what you want. I work on my feet so I like good boots. But I haven't bought a pair of custom boots yet. Thinking about. But haven't found quite what I want.
Delivery time, is one the worse points you can bring up, when comparing off the shelf to custom.
You can buy off the shelf American boots, that cheaper.
I understand the importance of a good boot. I work on my feet too. That was just me being a smarta$$. I got the a$$ part down ... Now to work on the smart part ... They look like nice boots and I'm sure that if I could afford them, I would buy a pair. I still think the delivery time of 12 weeks is a bit long even for customs... But what do I know. I don't make boots... I'll leave that to the elves ... er ... I mean pros.
If you want a pr of good riding boots that are also light and good walking boots, look t the Danner Strykers, US made. good quality and water proof. Warm in the cooler riding season I wear them exclusively here in Fl / Ga year round when riding.
