Hello,
Is anybody familiar with the VOSS MATT CARBON HALF "DOT" WITH DROP DOWN SHIELD NATURAL CARBON - motorcycle helmet. I am looking for half helmet that does not look like the typical DOT mushroom head and this helmet looks cool with the drop down visor. I could not find any reviews on it with Google. Any input would be appreciated.
Thank jon
Well I just ordered the Voss helmet, I guess that nobody has tried it since I got no feedback.
It should be here next week, will post my opinion of it.

Well, the Voss helmet just arrived. I would say that the size is a little bigger than my other DOT's, but not by much, I would guess because of the drop down visor. That is really pretty cool, came with 3 visors, clear, charcoal and amber. When pulled down looks like something out of a sci-fi movie. The weight is much less than my other DOT's because of the carbon fiber. It is a keeper.

Just a quick update about Voss, vossdot.com. When I was changing the visor, I notice a small crack on the side of the visor and called Voss for a local reseller that might stock one so I could buy a spare in case the crack got larger. Great customer service, they said they would just send a replacement. That made the purchase even better, knowing they have great customer service which is unusual in this day and age.

Well I got to put some miles on the new Voss 1/2 helmet, it has been really hot here in Georgia but decided to test out the helmet in the heat. I can say that this is the greatest helmet I own, the carbon fiber makes it really light and even in the 92 degree weather it was bearable. The drop down visor is handy for both day and night riding. I guess the best thing about it is the cost was under $130.00. I also mentioned in an earlier post that the customer service from Voss was great. it is not as small as my non DOT helmets but weighs about the same or less. Just my 2 cents for what it is worth, helmets are really a personal choice.
What size did you get? Do you have problems with the visor or shield catching the wind? I usually wear a medium helmet, but I have a narrow face and all the 1/2 helmets I've tried want to "lift" of my head at highway speeds. Plus, they all have that giant mushroom look on me.
Coolblue,, if your helmet is lifting, try what I do to solve that. When I am hitting the highway, and want to prevent "helmet liftoff" Just bop the helmet down on your head, open hand, not trying to knock yerself out. Just sets you into the inner padding.
allows you to tighten up, with no more effort. And it works.
Hey CoolBlue,
Sorry for the delay, was out riding. My head measured 22.5" so I got a medium, it fit perfect. BTW, the liner comes out and can be washed. I have only been up to about 75mph but it did not lift and I noticed no problem with the drop down visor. I was just wearing normal sunglasses and the clear visor. Now I was riding a Roadking with a windshield, but I don't think that would make a big difference. As I mentioned in an earlier post, it is not as small as a non DOT, but with the shield down it looks a little like a jet pilot helmet but 1/2 size. It is worth the extra few dollars for the carbon fiber, it is really light. Hope that this helps. I have stopped wearing my beanie helmet, feel a little better knowing if some cager trys to takem me out, maybe my head will survive...lol

I hear ya man. I have a 3/4 helmet that weighs a ton and I can't stand my full face. I hate the idea of not wearing a helmet, but if I plan on riding any distance I usually don't wear one. Otherwise my neck is hurting pretty good at the end of the day. I might have to check out the carbon fiber one.
I picked one up today from a local shop $105.00 but it only came with two visors the clear and the smoke , I would like to get a yellow one for night riding and rain. I think I will try and contact the company to see if I can purchase one. Also would like to be able to purchase spares for when they get scratched. I rode with it today and must say it look goods and fits real good. So Far Love it...
