I need some advice on where to get a descent half halmet from. I have 3, a HD, an outlaw, and some other kind. They all are DOT and they all make me look like a D:ck. After awhile of riding they also hurt my neck. Please, anyone know of where to get a smaller looking helmet that is DOT spec.:tantrum:
Is it the right size? If it's too big it will buffet in the wind and jerk your head around.
I don't see a windshield in your profile pic but they will cause your helmet to buffet as well.
As for looking like a d*ckhead lol, that's why folks wear peanut shells or nothing at all. Gotta evaluate what your priorities are - looking good or surviving a collision with the concrete.
HCI makes a nice half helmet. It looks like carbon fiber but it's just a layer of it over the fiberglass shell. Fairly low profile and not too expensive.
Well I finally splurged today and picked up a HeadTripHelmet (carbonfiberhelmets). I bought it in the flat black color, extended half DOT. All I can say is wow, this helmet is what everyone said it is. Super light, extremely strong and way smaller then any DOT helmet I have seen. After buying three other supposedly small DOT helmets in the last year it truly looks like a novelty helmet in comparison to them. It is not as small as a novelty but isn't much bigger either. I kept saying to myself, $200 for a half helmet. I dont know? But if I can shell out thousands of dollars on accesories $200 for a sweet helmet that will protect my dome is a great deal. Once again their product is superior.
I got a new HeadtripHelmet for Christmas. I too was impressed with the small size and still DOT. Got to try it out this week for about an hour of riding. The closest thing to riding without a helmet, you don't really notice it on your head. I strongly recommend these helmets.
