Shorts while riding???

Anyone else do it? On hot days, I do...but not usually on long rides. I don't care if I don't "look like a biker" cause I'm wearing shorts.

I wonder how many people who don't wear helmets are going to flame me for this by using the argument that they would never wear shorts cause they don't provide protection in a crash.

guilty at times. Of course I rarley wear a helmet so a little road rash on my legs while my head was splattered probablly wouldn't bother me.

shorts and sandals (standard attire for the summer) but I keep a pair of sweat pants handy if the engine heat is excessive.

Yeah...June Bugs aren't fun either, but they leave a mark whether you're wearing shorts or jeans...so it really doesn't matter.

You got exactly the point I was making....had to laugh at how you so eloquently worded it though. At least you accurately understand the risks.

Yes, to the shorts never sandals not that good of an idea shoes or footing can lead to a lot more bumps. Tennies for me. We got eaten by the shoei, bell helmet lobbyist law way back so gotta wear a lid and no I would not if I did not have too. Just another reason California sucks... (sunscreen is good) Only in town I do not like to be bumping 70 with my short pants open and well it just makes me think of bugs and rocks that could fly up into my most important thing in my life. I could not imagine living without him, yes my prong, my inspiration, the decider my closer.

Yup. Shorts and sandles won't stop me from a boogie up town for coffee. I won't leave town this way though.

I won't wear shorts ever again. Did it once or twice until I burned the crap out of my leg about 10 years ago on an exhaust pipe and still have a scar to show for it. Shorts are not for me. Not that jeans provide that much more protection but between taking bugs, rocks and other road debris in the shins and putting a burn mark on more than one pair of jeans from the pipes on various bikes, I wont do it.

I may ride in a t-shirt but NEVER shorts. I also wear boots 100% of the time. Now im not one to say what to wear as to each their own in my book.

Shorts never; always full coverage top to toe.

I even put on one of an assortment of jackets when in riding mode. Light mesh or heavy leather, depending on the weather outlook.

People at HOG OKC (it was roughly 105* in the shade) looked at me as if I'd just landed on this planet.

I don't wear shorts, but would before i would go without full finger gloves again. 4 sq in of road rash on you leg hurts much less than 1/4 sq in on your fingertips. No more fingerless gloves for me.

I just went through that and you are right on the money. I had road rash on my finger tips and the palms of my hands. I also had a cast on my broken wrist that covered it on my right hand. Hurt like hell.
