New HD GPS, made my Garmin.

http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US

Does anyone have this "new" unit yet, and do you like it?

Looks nice, check out the video. Since it's a re badged Garmin, I think this should be pretty nice!

Any input, experiences from fellow riders is welcome.

I know the old one, that used discs, sucked...

Why pay the HD price when you can get the same unit without the HD brand on it for considerably less $$$$?????

Because I work at a dealer, and can get it at cost +10%. I'm betting that is less than the Garmin Zumo, which by spec, this one will do the same stuff.

Now, do you have any info I can use?

The units are still pretty new, and we only get to see the display, and company news, just like you get.

If someone out there has some real info, and not just smart comments, bring em.

If not, move on.

Do you have the fairing mount and if so do you have pics?

Wasn't intended as a smart comment. You need to learn a few manners. First of all, you'd lose your bet. Dealer cost is right around $599. Add 10% to that and you can find brand new 550's for less than that. Then you also have to get the mounting kit for the bike and 4 wheeler, if you want to use it in a 4 wheeler.

If you want serious info, you ought to be smart enough to do a little research, both on this forum and others, specifically the Zumo forum at THIS LINK

A search on this site and also using Google would provide you with lots of info. Maybe you need to consider a class on how to to these things.

The HD model is the 3 year old Zumo 550 model (3.5"), wait until April 10th and with a little bit of on line smart shopping and you'll spend less money on the brand new soon to be released Zumo 660 4.3" widescreen. GPS technology changes quickly so the new Garmin model should be better, faster, and packing newer capabilities like... Lane assist, 3-D building view, photo navigation, and Where am I?. The 550 is a great model but for for less money you could get the newest technology. MSRP for the 660 is $799 (same as the HD 550) so you should be able to buy the 660 online for significantly less even with your discount on the HD 550.

The only thing you'd be giving up is the HD flash screen and the preloaded HD dealership POIs (and the 3 year old technology).

Maybe I'd just like some straight answers, not what appeared to be a smart answer.

Had you stated the "dealer cost",. which I'll have to verify, right off the bat, you would have had some credibility.

You gave what appears to be an opinion. It's turned out I'm sure you are correct.

But do you see the difference in the info you gave me this time, as opposed to your first post.

I'm just starting at the dealer, and don't get a discount for about another month. I don't know the cost, and didn't' want to ask.

Also, since this appears to be a new product, I thought I'd start a new thread.

IF I want Miss Manners, I'll read the paper.

Next time, I'll just ask somewhere else.

I didn't think folks here were so soft that they'd be offended by a comment like mine.

I'll consult a guide to etiquette next time I post a question.

Thanks. I know that some of the HD stuff is dirt cheap at cost, but obviously this isn't one of em!

I'll just have to get a ZUMO. I have just seen list of close to 799-899, and thought that at my cost I Might catch a break.

Since I'm just starting a new job, I really don't want to spend that much. I was hoping I might be able to get it for 500 or less, but it seems that isn't the case.

I'll just hold off. I would get one at a good deal, but that is just more than I want to spend until I see if this is going to work out for me working at the dealer!

Thanks for your help, and for not trying to "teach" me any more than I asked for!

I appreciate it!

You need to backup and start over. If your first post had stated that you could get employee discount at a dealer, I would have told you that. No mind readers on here.

You gave what appears to be an opinion. It's turned out I'm sure you are correct.

Opinion is based on your observation. Wasn't an opinion to me.

But do you see the difference in the info you gave me this time, as opposed to your first post.

Sure, the difference is obvious cause you provided some decent info in your second post.

I'm just starting at the dealer, and don't get a discount for about another month. I don't know the cost, and didn't' want to ask.

You're confused if you think I'm offended. No such thing on internet forums.

I'll consult a guide to etiquette next time I post a question.
Provide all the pertinent info and maybe you'd get a good answer the first time.

I have the bar mount. Didn't want to drill into my fairing. The bar mount that comes with the Zumo wasn't as compact as I would like.

I have all the HD POI's loaded into mine. There are several websites out there that have the POIs ready to load. I check the site every now and again for updates.

Something about the HD version as well, you don't get the vehicle mount along with what you buy, only the bike mount. The vehicle mount is an add on....

OK, I can see you are one of those who could just never say anything wrong.

I look forward to seeing what some others have to say.
