Does anyone on the Forum have one of these? If so, opinion? This is an expensive helmet, but one that I'm considering so that I have Bluetooth functionality for my phone and Zumo. And you can plug your iPod right into the helmet. Thoughts, or alternate suggestions? I do not care about communication between bikes.
I've seen mixed reviews on the performance of the bluetooth. Make sure you can return it if you're going to invest that much, or at least test it out with all your stuff.
1, it's heavy
2, it's noisy, your noise level may be less with a shield.
3, it's complicated, lots of little moving parts.
4, GREAT anti fog system.
5, Zumo works great, won't work with my Verison LG. didn't want to talk and ride anyway.
I too am very interested in this helmet, for the internal sun visor, and it's extensive bluetooth / wiring options.
However, I'm concerned that there won't be sufficient clearance to use the internal sun visor with my glasses... does anyone know if this feature works with glasses on?
Actually the sunvisor on the N103 IS internal. I wear glasses and I love it.
The helmet is a bit on the noisy side compared to my HJC CL-Max.
I haven't had too much luck in the rain, without the anti-fog shield it fogs up.
I also haven't had too much luck with the iPod hook-up either. For some reason the wire that goes between the pod and helmet keeps breaking internally, i've had two now. I'm going to try and find a different source.
One other design problem is the proximity of the slide for the visor and the release clip for the N-Com, they are two close and i've accidentally unclipped the N-Com when trying to move the visor slide with gloves on.
I generally like the helmet for being a helmet, it's comfortable and very little buffeting but I'm not sure the N-Com system is worth the huge expense. It would be nice if it would pair up with my iPod Touch 2nd gen via Bluetooth but they aren't compatible.
Oh, the vent system is a joke. Unless it's cold outside it's tough to tell if it's even functioning. This helmet is very warm compared to my HJC.
Nolan makes a excellent helmet. its a little hot in the hot summer riding.
Like the way the helmet is made and really like the quick release.
I bought the N102 before he N103 was available.
What kind of electronics you put in it has nothin to do with the quality of the Helmet.
Robbie Knievel wore a Nolan Helmet.
I have a AVG 5047 which I bought at the HD dealer 3 yrs ago.
Its a Migula helemt.
It is a modular helmet and has quick release.
I will not own a helmet with D rings.
Here is a picture.
I really like this helmet.
I have one that I never put the Bluetooth stuff in. I found that that the chin bar was too close and the ventalation was marginal. I went back to a Shoei (Multi-tech), am planning on selling the Nolan.
Hi Cardboard, I wasn't trying to start anything or highjack this thread, I was just putting some info out there.
Helmets are a personal choice, and I respect that, I have just seen and experienced enough to have a little better understanding of the end result and have to fight with myself to keep my mouth shut when someone makes a remark about not wearing one or how they feel helmets are stupid.
I did look at the AVG Miglia Modular but their website and reviews leave something to be concerned about…
I'm also surprised that someone hasn't released a Snell-approved modular helmet. You'd think that it could be done by using, say, a titanium frame and locking mechanism, which might theoretically make a closed modular helmet even sturdier than a full-face.
Curiously, the AGV Miglia is one that does not meet the ECE 22-05 standard (i.e., it's not labeled as meeting the ECE standard), probably because it is only sold in the U.S.A. along with a more expensive AGV modular helmet, the GT Open.
In Texas it gits very Hot. You have to find a helmet you can live with.
I know how good a shoei is but I ain't going to pay the price and I want a modular helmet with quick realease and cool max liner.
I can't live here as hot as it gits with the Shoei.
I've called them for years askin for a helmet as I described.
They got fussy with me cause I was askin them to make one.
I could see wearing a shoei if I was riding a Race bike.
But i'm not.
I have a Nolan N102 I can wear when its spring, winter and fall, but in the summer I have to have my AVG Modular helmet.
Both helmets are DOT approved.
And I ain't worried about you biting yer tongue.
you got to wear what you like and feel comfortable with.
Come to Texas and with the heat yer likes might change.
:hystria: I did Street Vibrations 3 years ago 114 degrees, I was ready to buy a modular just so I could have an easier way to drink something cold:redrolf:
My hats off to you for being able to handle that darn heat!!! You ride safe and take care...
