JP Helmets-anyone know anything?

Hi!

I have always liked the way Biltwell helmets look, but I´d like a DOT approved helmet that looks similar. I stumbled across these guys while searching the web. The helmets are supposedly DOT approved and they look sharp. They´re also a lot cheaper than, say, Davida helmets that come in similar styles. They also look a little slimmer than a Davida "Jet" for example.

Has anybody heard of these guys?: JP Helmets

Also, is there a comprehensive list from the DOT that lists helmets that have a DOT approval where you might look up if a particular helmet actually has an approval?

Please, no lectures on the virtues of full face helmets etc. I am just trying to find out something about JP Helmets.

Thanks!

I have never heard of them before your post.

And, everybody says I'm such a know-it-all. I guess I showed them.

Hi!

I thought I´d follow up myself. I went ahead and ordered me an FT03 from JP helmet. I got it after under a week (from Hong Kong no less). I´ve only had a chance to test the helmet for a day but my first impression is surprisingly good. The finish is better than a lot of more expensive helmets I´ve seen and it happens to fit my noggin pretty well. It has a quick release buckle (which I prefer) but it also has two D-rings, so it may actually be possible to use that instead.

The only thing I´m not sure about is the DOT approval. On the website they say it is approved, it also has the sticker, but I guess that really doesn´t mean too much. The styrofoam layer inside the helmet is definitely not as thick as, say, in a HD branded helmet, but I believe I have seen other DOT approved helmets, that didn´t have any thicker shock absorbing layers either.

For what it´s worth- it´s not expensive, it fits well, looks cool and is probably better than your run of the mill novelty helmet.

Ride safe
