Any good helmets for Dogs?

I've been looking for a while for a good helmet for my dog but all I can find are the ABS "novelty" helmets. Anyone come across a "real" helmet for man's best friend?

I know some may not believe in having a dog on a bike but I know many people who do. It's always to be safe and since I wear a helmet, I'd like my dog to have one also.

But there's no helmet law in NH...let em ride free!

I don't know if you'll find any DOT approved helmets in his size though...have you looked at HJC? I think they make some smaller helmets or maybe even an XS...

Other option may be to look at kids multisports helmets at a Dick's Sporting goods...maybe a hockey helmet?

Trying to put a dog on a bike that is not a trike or has a sidecar is a little crazy to me. Every one I've seen always looks to be in distress and NOT liking it..so I guess it's all about the owner getting attention. Having said that....haven't heard of a dog helmet maker but would make sure that dog as something to protect his eyes. That's another thing that really burns my ass...a rider who thinks that his dogs eyes are immune to wind and GRIT in his eyeballs. Bad subject with me...but not trying to bust your bubble. My unwelcome recommendation....leave the dog home if he can't ride safely without having to do a balancing act the entire ride.

Okay..I'm done.

There's great eyewear for dogs at www.doggles.com. Dunno about helmets, though.

Geez Dennis, as attached to your own dog as you are, please don't tell me you got him a set of assless chaps, it's a wonder you get any work done.

Thanks for the replies. I'll have to check out some of the small or maybe kids size helmets. My dog actually likes wearing the doggles when in the car and the lenses are impact resistant. As far as keeping the pooch on the bike, I was looking at some of the seat options such as those by BeastRiders. www.beastriders.com They have a harness system to keep the dog in the seat. They are a bit pricey so I may look into making something similar myself. I think I can match the bike style a bit better than the way some of those look.
