How Should Chaps Fit????

I tried on a pair of chaps pn today (First Gear with removable Thinsulate liner) and I'm not sure how they are supposed to fit. They seemed a little snug, although I had rather relaxed jeans on, so that may have added to the feel. I could bend and sit, and move, but I could tell I had them on. They were not baggy at all, yet the inner elastic on the thigh was not stretched.

So how are chaps supposed to fit, lose, tight, somewhere in between? I'm thinking if I ever wet down with a pair on, I'd probably want them to stay put.

Any thoughts?

Matt

Males - Up to your crotch, down to your feet without dragging and tight enough to be comfortable. If you're a fat ass I'd suggest windproof pants rather than chaps!

Females - See above post!

You need enough mobility so that you can still bring the forefinger down and forward to do the cool wave when you pass all of your bros!

Whatever you do, make sure you don't buy the kind that make your ass look fat.

That's embarrasing.

I've not seen chaps with elastic on the thighs, but a snug fit is okay. Most of the time, new chaps will stretch a little bit. They get broken in sort of like a good pair of shoes. You don't want them extremely tight, but snug is better than loose.

If you are the right sex and can get away with wearing spandex, that is how they should fit.

Chaps

Many others share this thought...you should too

Why Does Langlitz Recommend Pants Rather Than Chaps?

Chaps were originally designed for purposes other than motorcycling. Cowboys don't fall off their horses and slide on asphalt for hundreds of feet on their butts! Our Westerns (leather pants) with long leg zippers are easier to put on than chaps, are more versatile (can be worn with or without jeans beneath), have pockets and give you much better protection from both the elements (rain) and pavement.

Already bought the Fox Leather Chaps Friday. I'll see how I like them.

I might buy pants later in the year when fall starts rolling around. My only concern about pants is that they will not fit over my a$$ - I have what us weekend athletes call a 'squater's butt', along with muscluar thighs. Every pair of chaps and pants I've tried on I couldn't even get them over my thighs.

If I like FC's chaps, I may fork out the $$$ for the pants, but there are other 'chap pants' out there that are pretty good quality, too, and a heck of a lot less $$.

A guy at work laughed when I told him I was thinking about pants. But then again, he's one of those guys that bought the Harley and thinks he's too cool (yet he's afraid to even open the dipstick on his own bike). True definition of the word 'tool'. I don't listen to anything he says, but I do heed the advice of you guys.

Thanks,
Matt
