Entry for Ride of The Month - A Very Custom Ultra Classic
This is my entry for the Ride of The Month. It is a 2008 Ultra Classic. It is not the bike I started to buy last August, I wanted an '09 Street Glide but since the dealer had $1800 off this model due to the end of year closeouts, I bought it. Since it was the Ultra, it was loaded including the ABS, but it was Pearl White with the gold stripes...not my choice in paint. A lot of people are customizing baggers these days, but very few go the Ultra route.
I put about 2000 miles on it before the Ohio winter set in and had to garage her. I broke her down and shipped all the tins to Thompson Graphix in Rosseau, MN for the black with pearl ghost flames. Todd Thompson runs that shop and he is an artist...and did I mention the entire paint job cost me around $2000. They are truly ghost, but attract a ton of attention at the cruise ins as well as rest areas on the freeways. I blacked out most of the bike, and stripped the chrome that I could such as the bag rails. About the only stock parts on the bike are the headlight, passing lamp bulbs, seat, internal engine (96", 6 Sp...but will have a 106" kit this winter), and black switch covers.
She has the Klock Werks WFB Black True Duals with VH Monster Ovals, VH Drak AC, SERT, Roland Sands RSD Lazy Boy Bagger bars, HD Diamond Black collection foot controls, boards, and grips, Cycle Visions Tech Trim windshield molding and turn signals (very cool), HD Custom Passing Lamp mounts, narrow taillight bar, bullet smoked turn signals, Kuryakyn LED smoked tailight with license plate relocator and curved holder (plate reflects the bike and year), smoked tour pack lenses, clean front fender, Cee Bailey smoked windscreen, Road Tech XM Radio, Hog Tunes speaker upgrades front and rear, smoothed and black chromed stock wheels with polished rotors, Progressive Suspensions 1" drop springs in front and shock drops in rear for a 1" drop all around. Black powder coat covers the tank console, crash bar, driver and passenger floorboards, brake pedal arm, shifter arms, flamed billet shifter rod, and front forks done by Aesthetic Finishers. They also did the engine parts in black wrinkle including the horn cover. I also added the aluminum and etched flame gauge faces from NuImage. Frank Herrera is a great guy out there. The Aux console switch was replaced with a momentary lock switch designed for the bag locking kit, but I have it wired to a custom garage door opener that I found on this or another forum.
Book value on all the parts + the bike is almost $35000, but thanks to eBay and Chicago Harley, I have spent much less. She rides like a dream, and I have put almost 7000 miles on her this year already. She is NOT a trailer queen and never will be. I will ride her until the snow sets in. Nothing against show bikes, but this one was built for me to ride...and to stand out in the crowd. Aside from the big bore kit, this winter will add a bagger brace, some additional black trim such as speaker grills, blackwall tires and an air horn. The chrome left on her will probably remain as it sort of sets off the black.
Aside from the black chroming, powdercoating and paint, I did all the disassembly and assembly myself, in a one car garage with a Craftsman floor jack.
I have included HD's pic of the bike to show what she looked like when I bought her. The first pic is not the best but shows the flames if you enlarge. The rest are in a parking lot, again not the best, but were taken by a Blackberry phone. Hope you enjoy!

Very nice bike as well, I notice you went the gloss black route, some of mine is gloss like the foot controls, but my console and controls are the satin for a nice contrast. You got any plans for the wheels? There is a guy on eBay selling yours with a satin or black powdercoat that are pretty sharp.

Well, I chnaged out the seat yesterday to a lower profile type sundowner that had been recovered. I've been looking at the wheels, but kind of like the contrast, as you mentioned.Below is a photo of the air cleaner cover I did for the bike.

Rotm
Can I still enter my '07 Springer Classic in the ROTM?
I bought this bike from a good guy in Albuquerque, NM. The bike was completely stock with less than 1000 miles and the owner fell on hard times. I got the bike in January of '09, it was in the shop for about 5 months only doing work when money allowed. I'm really pleased with the end result.

Here is my 07 Road King Classic....
96 inch engine
6 speed
It has been converted to a one of a kind Electra King! I did all paint and body work in my garage, as well as the installation of every part on the bike and wiring. This is actually the second set of tins I painted for it, after experimenting on the first set from Ebay and reinstalling these when they were done. I have since painted a few bikes for locals, all better then the last, .
Stock Engine internals, but featuring Vance and Hines true duals, K&N air filter, Power Commander controls and soon a cam upgrade.
For non engine sounds it has a Sony sound system (with XM radio, MP3 and IPod as well as DSL capable) and BikeTronics radio control module, etc.
I added the Electra Glide fairing and hard bags after some time searching on Ebay and growing tired of the cramped leather hard bags which also take away from the paint.
It also features a BrightAsslight for rear lighting (which works awesome if safety is your goal btw!) and a conversion for adding the turn signals to the brake light equation from Harley.
Add a backrest for the wife, as well as a HD Sundowner seat, and there you have it!

Thanks
Jim

Thanks Maczter!
I have a more recent pic to put up sometime soon, since I have added passenger running board covers and a few other small items...Plus I gave it a very thourough bath from top to bottom too!(needed it bad!)
I also forgot to mention the Ahh-Ooo-Gah horn, which is a personal favorite of mine, but not pictured.
Looking forward to Biketoberfest here is Florida in a few weeks!
...Jim
