Here's a few pix of my 1988 FXRP, "Black Betty."
It is a 1340 Evo-powered custom now, with a lot of modifications, and an interesting story.
Originally purchased new by a CHP officer, the bike was stripped of all police gear, and received new bodywork, suspension, brakes, lots of chrome, and some attention to the motor. The mods made it look more like an FXLR Low Rider Custom than an FXRP. It wasn't ridden much, as it only racked up 16,000 miles in 20 years.
The bike sat unused for years until I bought it this past fall for a song. It was barely running, needed a ton of maintenance, but I saw the potential. Tuned it up, did some overdue maintenance, replaced a ton of parts, and gave it some much-needed TLC. It had an obnoxious black, green, and gold custom paint job from the 1980's that needed to go, and not having the money for a big-time pro job, I took matters into my own hands. With advice & encouragement from forum members (Pat @ Kustom Flames), I prepped & painted the bike myself, with a total budget of $75.
Who says you have to spend big money to have an eye-turning Big Twin?
