Christian MC or MM

First off, before I begin, please do not take anything said in this thread as an attack or a put-down. I absolutely do NOT mean anything like that.

I live in Manteca, California. I am very active in a local church here called Carson Oaks Community Church and, although I am young, was raised riding bikes and have recently rekindled my love for being on them. I am a Christian and am looking to buy a bike. I am also looking for a good Christian club to ride with. But here's the problem...

I have a problem with how some of the MM's are made as far as structure goes because to me it seems like you can come and go as you please with no real dedication required. I cannot understand how a ministry can succeed like that. On the other end of the spectrum, some self-proclaimed Christian MC's have tendencies to fall into the outlaw lifestyle again (Set Free Soldiers as 1 example).

Is there some club/ministry that has a happy medium? I want to find a group where the people are absolutely dedicated to serving the Lord Jesus Christ and don't just come and go. I was looking at a club called Last Disciples MC and if anybody has any experience with them, I would appreciate that knowledge. Also, I am interested in how CMA operates. It seems like a ministry that the people can come and go as they want. I say that because I have a few friends who were in CMA and they left because the group was too focused on just the bikes themselves and did very little ministry work.

Thank you so much for the responses.
I've been bashing my head against the wall for a while now. haha

Welcome to the forum! As to your problem, I can only offer this advice: Any church or group you join will be made up of people who will at some time disappoint you or let you down (even your pastor is human). Pick the best club for you, and make a difference in the group! People will always come and go in every church and group.

Welcome... I moved out to NY about 6 years ago from Stockton. I too have looked into different MM's. Currently in CMA the past 5 years. Im finding that even in CMA, chapters are not the same. Some are more into ministry or service or their bikes, or riding without the bar stops. From what Im reading and seeing, it depends on the elected leadership of the chapter at that time as to how active that chapter is to it's mission. One person can set the tone within a group.

As mentioned in the previous post- every group will have some people that will drive you nuts. Its how you react as you live out what you believe. Just don't let that stop you from being committed to serving Jesus.

You mentioned your friends were in a CMA chapter that was too focused on bikes and little ministry work. Our CMA chapter (under the current chapter leadership) has been so involved in service & ministry work the past couple years that some of us need to get our heads up to take a breath. We are only able to get in a few "fun rides" in as a group. I often end up taking several solo trips (with or w/o my wife) just to get my riding fix in. Looking for the right group of people to serve with is the key within any larger group.

Thank you so much for the responses.

I am still trying to understand the differences between a Christian MM and Christian MC...i know how traditional clubs work and things like that. Basically what I'm looking for is people that have experienced these Christian "clubs" and (whether good or bad) how were they as representatives of Christ.

Again thank you for the responses and welcoming me.

Welcome Webhead!

Harpo has good info.

In your search, you might want to research Black Sheep Harley Davidsons for Christ.
www.blacksheepmm.org

They started in Temecula Ca. about 10 yrs ago.
Biblical truth, Missionary mindset.
Marty (Nat'l President) is well experienced with MM's and MC's and will be happy to help you gain more knowledge about which one may be right for you..even if it's not Black Sheep.

Tell 'em Cujo sent ya.

Ahh yes. Pastor Phil. Can he help it if he just happened to be in Blackies Bar and one of the Angels there didn't want religion and one of his Soldiers was a little persuasive and tried to slit his throat from ear to ear and got 8 years in the hoose-gow?

You may also look at the Tribe of Judah MM. They are a evangelical ministry to the outlaw biker world. I think California is fairly young for the Tribe, but may be nice to be in at ground level. Dedication is a must in this organization and if you are not called by God, you will know quickly and may move on to something else a little less intense. Check the website out www.tribeofjudah.com and if you have any questions, let me know.

If you knew the reason some of the people were leaving(which is between them and GOD) you might understand better. In my opinion if you are not on the right path with your life and on the right walk with GOD then you should be able to walk away from these MM's until such time when you feel your walk with GOD is where it should be.
We all need to keep our priorities GOD, Family , and then whatever you feel should be next, if a MM or anything elseis taking time away from your personal walk with GOD then your brothers and sisters in CHRIST should understand and support you taking time away to get your walk back where it should be.
