Just wondering if there were other Asatru Folk reading these forums. These religious sections always seem to slant towards the Christians so I thought I'd raise a horn to the Gods of the North and see if there were other Heathens lurking about.

Asatru is honoring and following in the ways of the Gods of my Northern European ancestors, (e.g., Odin, Thor, Frey, Njord, etc...)

Asatru is the religion that was present in that region long before the corrupt, power hungry christian church violently forced its belief system on the folk.

If you are of Northern European descent, you owe it to yourself to research Asatru, the religion of your ancestors.

Very interesting. I think you will see more people turning away from the current organized religions. Especially with all the recent scandals and abuses.

All religions are cults. If you're attempting to be a smart ass about my religion, I suggest you do more research at the link I provided above before attempting to compare it to the Heavens Gate group.

It is my opinion that any religion that has expanded primarily through violent means (christianity), has controlled its congregation through fear of eternal punishment (christianity), and has had to establish its sacred holidays on top of existing pagan holidays, because it could not garner enough respect from the masses it converted to establish its own (christianity), than that religion has more in common with the negative connotation of a "cult" than any regional pagan religion that I have come across, least of all Asatru.

My bad...I WILL do the research and then write a thesis of my findings and subsequent hypothesis:

my research shows that you are bit touchy and unfortunately biker sites dont appear to be the best place to pick up asatru groupie chicks

Oops..nevermind, forgot this doesnt really qualify specifically as a biker site, more of a politics and oil site...carry on
