As to your first question if you're referring to the VA gun ownership statistics I think it's completely relevant. It happened in a state with easy availability and heavy gun ownership. The argument that an armed populace deters bad guys just doesn't hold water for me. It may make someone think before they attempt a break in or home invasion but it won't stop a psycho or a jihadist from attempting horrible things. And so far there's no evidence that an armed good guy really makes much of an impact is there?
An armed populace doesn't deter? This guy assumed room temperature at the scene. Can't deter much more than that.
Unfortunately the good guys only had handguns, and were up against a rifle, but even wounded they gave it back to the shooter. The good guys are hero's in my book.

Mine as well.

Regarding the rest, I was referring to armed civilian involvement and gun ownership rates as deterent, as stated in my earlier post. So either you missed my point or I'm missing yours.

Maybe I missed yours, or didn't differentiate between the plainclothes cops at the Alexandria shooting and "civilians". Handling a firearm in a self defense situation is not rocket science, hence the old addage " better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it".

Need more proof?

The media is reporting the shooter had another 200 rounds of ammo in his storage locker. *GASP* Commenters suggest that is much more than a sane person should need and this needs to be limited.

NYS wants to limit ammo purchases to twice your gun's capacity in 90 days. So that would be 20 rounds in 3 months?

Crap, I fired off two years worth last night in only a half-hour.

Push more paper work and make rules, it fixes everything.

I just told my boss I never noticed how liberal you run this business.

His answer to everything is a new written rule. Lady was cut from a falling piece of glass on top of her ankle right between her pants and the tongue of her shoe. So, he no wants a written rule that all pants must cover the tongue of your shoe, so this new written law means this type of accident will never happen again!

He truly believes if its written down, problem solved.
