Wow. That was a hard one.

You'd think that any American paying even casual observance to the world around them would know all of that but apparently we found someone who didn't. Shocking.
Now there is no doubt that Saudi Arabia pursues some interests that are not in line with ours. In fact, some of their actions in pursuit of their foreign policy go against a lot of our country's own principles. So it should come as no surprise that at times we are at odds with the and they suffer a public perception problem. But whether people to believe it or not, the Saudi government wants no part or ties with groups or individuals (non state and state actors) who want to attack the US. In fact, in 1988 the Saudi Intelligence Chief, Turki al-Faisal, went to the Taliban, Mullah Omar in particular, and told them to turn over Bin Laden. Omar refused and the Saudi response was to cut all ties with the Taliban government. Additionally, the Saudi government was successful in stopping private donations to the Taliban, all of which put a strain on the Taliban government. That bit of info has been reported in many books surrounding 9-11. One book in particular is "In the Graveyard of Empires" pp 83-84.
