My Union sent out an Email. There is no cliff. It is just a political move by Republicans to make Obama look bad.
The 1.6 trillion in taxes is needed to cover Bush spending and will be paid for the the rich.
PS: There will be a Dues increase to covered needed campaign efforts. The amount will be determined Some time first quarter of 2013 and be effective January 1. You can however make donations any time we must fight on.
We are so screwed

They (congress and the pres) set this deal up last year. Signed, seal and delivered. I'm so tired of hearing whiny ass liberals blame the "Bush tax cuts" for everything under the moon, let them expire. All of them. Let the budget cuts go into effect. They built it (pun intended) let 'em reap it. They all own it.

They will figure out a way to kick it down the road again. Then they will be reelected and the process continues. The three plus generations of welfare recipients in the town i live in will continue to spit out kids and get their checks. My how things have changed in this country

I blame everybody. What do you think of the checks and balances our founding fathers envisioned now?

So right!
Thing is, while we all must own it, I do feel that the American public has been mislead for many years. It would be good if "We The People" could hold those accountable for pulling the wool over our eyes. Only problem with that is, there'd be SO many to blame! It'd be akin to a witch hunt!

Yes I agree this was set by the Gov, so now its a disaster, let it be, let the cuts happen, we will get out of dept faster, isn't that we all want.

Unfortunately even if we don't go into a deep recession, going over the cliff won't put us on a sustainable path. It will only postpone our demise. More revenue and less spending will still be required. Most likely going over the cliff will send us into a recession and revenue will drop even with the tax hikes.
Our best chance of recovery is to have a large % of unemployed and underemployed start earning some decent wages. That won't happen under the current scenario.
