It took me awhile to figure out your code. I hope you learn something from your book club. Happy Thanksgiving.

Im my area I would assume it depends on what your property is zoned for. You say your place is downtown. In my area downtown would be for businesses, places that do generate tax revenue. Based on what you posted I'd say yes, you should be paying taxes or forced to move. Unless your club is a church...then God forbid you pay taxes.

Religion and worshipping the creator. Plus they only drink grape juice in church instead of the real thing. At least in my old church that's what they did. That why I ran away.

None if both are non-profit.
For those of you who would like to see churches pay taxes, be careful what you ask for. In order for a church to maintain it's 503c status, churches are obligated amongst other things to not be a political organization.
Now before you get all excited, yes you hear Christians or people of religious affiliation supporting various political issues. They are after all citizens and allowed to exercise their 1st amendment rights too. But the church they may be attending cannot. This can be seen where pastors avoid any endorsement of a particular candidate. I've been attending church virtually my entire life and have never heard any of my pastors endorse a candidate of any kind or encourage support of any particular political issue. And no I don't consider speaking against abortion as a political issue, it's being seen as a moral issue.
If a pastor were to "preach" a sermon that advocated anything that would be considered political, that church is very much in danger of losing it's 503c status.
So conversely if you would like to see churches start paying taxes, you should expect churches to become politically active, after all they're paying taxes. Is this what you really want?
By the way, Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Atheists don't target and smear the reputations of dead people who spent their lives working in a book club :
Quote:
An atheist group at Dartmouth College is planning an event aimed at skewering the reputation of the late Mother Teresa.
The Atheists Humanists Agnostics (AHA) club sent out a campus-wide e-mail announcing the program on Tuesday and promising a “full-out romp against why one of the most beloved people of the century, Mother Teresa, is as Hitchens put it… ‘a lying, thieving Albanian dwarf.’”

There is no difference, but many people believe that the big book of fiction is some big fact book that makes them special.
Religious institution should be taxes, just like any other business.

I think your neighbors should mind their own business unless you are encroaching on their peace somehow. In terms of taxes, I'd have to see your balance sheets to give a solid answer. I'd start with no and make them prove otherwise.
