One would only hope, Lefty. The best to hope for in 2016 is a highly contentious race that brings out the best in both. Competition is good. If this forum is a fair sampling of the Republican party they are certainly moving in the wrong direction. 2012 was theirs to lose and they did.

I would be turned off by a fat politician. It shows lack of control. Same as I would be turned off by an alcoholic.

I don't think it is lack of control that causes someone like Christie to be fat. I'm a relatively skinny guy. I can eat and not put on much weight. I've lived with big guys who eat less than I do and put on weight.

I have a pet theory that the kind of body Christie has is what nature most wanted. When we lived as hunter gatherers, someone like Christie could put on weight easily when there was food available. Then when food was scarce, he could live off his body fat and give what food was available to his children. Being big was the closest thing to a bank account in those days. And most of the health problems associated with being fat doesn't happen until after age 40 (heart problems, cancer, type II diabetes). Most hunter gatherers were dead by that age. So being big didn't have much of a health risk, you were going to die young anyway. But it did allow you and your family to survive when food was scarce. Nature never figured on a 24 hour supermarket where you could get all the food you want anytime you want.

While I agree, genetics play a part, this is also something fat people say. You could argue some fat people are genetically gifted, they need to take in less food. Eating alot, and being skinny from a design point, is a poor design, that would be weeded out in nature. Though from our point, it helps in getting laid.

Granted it is easy to say, but if you need less food, you should eat less food. I look at is lack of control, and a character flaw. I am not skinny by the way.

Christie's flab is the result of gluttony and lack of self-control. I've been there. It's funny how the left all of a sudden like him and make excuses for his size.

Howard Taft at 335 lbs was probably the biggest President. Off topic but Howard Taft started the tradition of having the President throw out the first pitch in baseball. In a game between the Washington Senators and the Philadelphia Athletics on April 14, 1910 at Griffith Stadium, after introducing the manager the umpire asked President Taft if he would throw the ball over the plate. President Taft was happy to so so and started a tradition. It is also claimed he is responsible for the 7th inning stretch when in the middle of the seventh inning of that same game he stood up to stretch his legs. The crowd thought he was standing to leave and stood in respect as he left however instead of leaving he sat back down. This was believed to be the birth of the 7th inning stretch however historians are doubt if that is a true story or not.

If you are just going to buy off votes, and cater to every special interest group, you might as well vote Democrat. I am not being sarcastic. If you are not doing what you think is right, what is the point?

This isn't like football, where you just want to say your team one.

The concept of advocating for your principles without alienating large segments the population eludes you just as it did Romney.

Alluding to Romney's dumbass statements about buying votes shows your lack of understanding in this matter. He proved himself to be a complete idiot. You are quoting a fool I have to admit I voted for.

Another important point that you miss entirely is that like participating in a football game the goal is to win.

Yes run those two, when are you Republicans going to learn, Ryan is history, Bachmann is a moron. There's way better than that pair....I am an independent voter, Democrats want to give everything away, Republicans want to steal everything. It leaves us....just about fed up with the two party bullshit.
