Even Newt Gingrich said last night on Stephen Colbert that the Republican party has to learn from the last election that its extreme positions were not shared by the electorate. Now I may not be quoting him exactly but that was the essence. So while I find much of what is said by the radical right to be repugnant, it does help the people to vote for a center/left moderate like Obama.

And many Democrats are hoping the Republicans do not learn from this election and nominate Paul Ryan or someone with similar ideas next time. (How about Rick Santorum)?
As our society drifts more and more socialist the definition of center/left or center/right drifts more and more to the left. Personally I don't feel Obie is center anything, but that's just me. I guess if you look at the entire picture he may be slightly toward center, but not near close enough for me. We'll see how center he is this term when he doesn't have to worry about re-election.

I don't think the pubs need or should capitulate. Giving up ones ideals isn't an option. Education would be a better course of action. Once people learn the consequence of unfunded socialistic actions they will retreat to conservative views. Unfortunately it appears we're going to the school of hard knocks for our education. I only hope there are enough sound minds and enough time to reverse our slide toward bankruptcy before it's too late.

He can't help himself, he loves him some tax raises. Which is fine, I'm gonna jump on the handout bandwagon myself in a little while too.
Please keep saying things in this sarcastic manner. It will only help the Democrats.

Right, cause saying something in any other manner will help change their vote in any way. You're funny.

You're making a big mistake if you think your side now owns the world.

Before the hurricane blew in, and Christy and Obama held their "hug-in", your side was losing to a moderate - by 6 points. Don't forget, your "guy" got 10 million fewer votes than he did in '08

There is no mandate here at all, and there is no reason for conservatives to give an inch. Your side got a gift in the last week, nothing more.

Could you be more specific? Any of the 10 points you care to disagree with?

I believe it is good for the nation for the radical right "conservatives" to keeping venting their outrageous verbiage, the kind we have a lot of here on the forum. I believe this is a huge turn off to middle America and therefore would encourage you to keep making the outrageous comments that I consistently read here. Please keep attacking everything Obama does regardless of what it is. No one believed the boy who cried wolf once too often, either.

California voted for Obama, has two Democratic Senators, a Democratic Governor and both houses of the legislature the Democrats have more than a 2/3 majority now. Clearly the citizens of California like the approach espoused the Democratic party. We also just voted to raise our property taxes to support education. And we get to ride all year. So, yes, I would think it would be nice if more of the country voted like California.

Ok hold on there sparky let's get a couple of things straight for you. First you wouldn't know center if you fell into it. You are so far wrapped in lefty ville, that fact that you actually think you are center left scares me terribly.

Now your chosen one only got a mere 50% of the vote.....think about it...yep....keep thinking and do the math.

And now lastly the same electorate that you are crowing about also was happy to have pubs in charge of the peoples house. So clearly this lefty utopia your speak/dream of is not true. Because if what you spew were fact Americans would have turned over the house to lefty ville and given the senate a super majority, but to your dismay neither of those things happened. And once again it is clear you know not of what you speak.

Yeah, it's great being broke. And being the most unfriendly state to business and having the most restrictive EPA CARB regulations in the nation. Congratulations. Since you voted for this crap and I didn't, would you pay mine?

Not surprising that you got suckered into the "education" propaganda. Don't you know that 80 cents of every dollar given to "education" goes to the teachers and administration? They thank you for funding their pensions.

Oh, and while you are at it, thank the state controlled educational system for their efficiency of maintaining a constant 50% drop out rate; that alone should be worth more of your tax dollars.

No, I don't have those figures handy. But if what you say is correct, it doesn't seem unreasonable for labor to be the biggest expense in a school system. And I don'[t know what the exact percent should be. It is like that in a lot of industries, labor intensive.

I've known many teachers in my time. There are career teachers in my family and among my extended network of friends. None of them are earning an excessive amount of money. Most of those who I know would earn more money working for a large corporation. I don't begrudge them what they are earning or their pensions.

The main problem with children not learning goes back to the individual families and what a poor job of raising children a lot of those families are doing. If you want to improve educational scores, then figure out a way to help the families to do a better job of supervising the education of the children in the family. And what I just said about helping families is a massively complex task. It is not a one or two thing solution. Nothing helps a kid to learn more than a stable home life and competent parents who take their job responsibly.

And California spends less per student than almost any other state. It's right near the bottom now. Mississippi used to be the lowest. California has been getting into that range in spending per child.
