But kinda kills me that so many people vote based on 'likeability'! I don't want a likeable president...I want a competent one!!!

The presidency has become too much of a popularity contest now...
Did you ever have a chance to see Romney commercials during the primary? Earlier this year I lived in SC. The weeks leading up to the SC primary, Romney ran one of the most negative campaigns I have personally seen. It continued in Florida. Once Santorum gained the spotlight, he became the new target. Don't pretend Romney is above those types of tactics.

Even though folks I know keyed in on a couple things Romney has said/done, the fact is, Romney lost because the Dem campaign focused on 4 groups, used the census to find where they lived, and signed up NEW voters. The Republican Party is static, won't embrace change, and refuses to connect with common people, therefore no new voters for them. Romney's 3 out of 4 losses in office is indicative of the Pubs performance in the last 4 presedential elections. Makes me think the only way they'll change is when tired of losing. The Dems need the Repubs, Pubs do many things better than Dems and vice-versa, and in case we all forgot, it's not about one party, it's about America.
