I don't recall George Bush having a "mandate" (lost the popular vote) but that didn't stop him from acting like he had one. When was the last time we had a winner from either side who actually paid attention to the other side which lost by only 1 or 2 % ? How often do we have a Prez, Senate, and House of the same party? The fact that Barry didn't accomplish more his 1st 2 years shows real lack of foresight on his part. He had his chance and blew it. Now that the House and Senate are still split our slide down either side of a hill will be slowed. And Boehner, instead of working to compromise and getting part of what he wants will keep blocking everything to make sure nobody gets anything. He is but 1/4 of the worst leaders our congress/senate has ever had.

I have a feeling that the economy is going to get a lot better the next four years and would have done so regardless of who got elected. If Romney had gotten elected, he and the Republicans would have gotten credit. But it will be Obama and the Democrats who got elected and will get the credit. If that happens, the Democrats will have the White House for the next decade.

The reason I said I believe the economy will get a lot better is in part because of a friend who owns a specialized employment agency that deals primarily with Fortune 500 companies. The Fortune 500 companies have been telling him for close to a year now that they expect to be hiring right after the election and were holding off until then. So in January my friend expects his business, supplying specialized employees to Fortune 500 companies will increase dramatically. So will the rest of the economy.

Now we can pray that the parties in Washington learn how to work together and compromise for the good of the country. I have high hopes but low expectations.

Michael, did you believe in the tooth fairy and Uncle Herschel when you were a kid? The top 4 leaders in the House and Senate are too friggin' egotistical to compromise. Having them in charge is worse than anyone we could mistakenly elect Prez.

I remember Karl Rove saying on TV right after the 2000 election that if you win the White House you have a mandate, even if you win by one electoral vote. So according to Rove, Obama and the Democrats have a "mandate" now and can push their agenda without regard to what the other party wants. I don't necessarily think it would be a good idea for the Democrats to do that, but it would be consistent with some of Rove's past statements if they did that.

Congratulations my progressive friends.
So, family members have been leaving frosted flakes outside by door trying to lure me out of the naked, crying. , fetal position in the corner. They finally got me up with soggy a$$ed frosted flakes an I figured I check out R+P.
I hope me and all the other antibamites were wrong. Hell, I almost think the house should just play ball, within reason of course. Lets see once and for all what happens with unchecked liberal policies. Sink or swim on policy and IF it fails, well, America will rebuild. We probably have no choice anyway, like mentioned above, maybe by UT, we're becoming a country with more takers than those contributing

Enjoy your victory boys, now, I'm going back to curl up in the corner.

Go Obama?? Another 4?? I'm making lemonade.

We may get lucky and have the economy get "a lot" better but the odds are against it. If we can't make the economy run without a continuous infusion of paper assets and currency manipulation, our world as we know it is in for a very rude awakening. It's almost impossible to imagine that the economy will stabilize under the current policy.

Glad to see your sense of humor is intact.

It really is time for all of us to work together. We have a lot of competition from other developed countries and we will only be able to maintain our standard of living if we work together and compromise, something that a lot of people don't like doing. Now is the time for all good men (and women) to come to the aid of their country.

C'mon Street. A couple weeks in an Obama re-education camp and you'll be fine.

I don't think we're going to see unchecked liberal policies. I don't want unchecked liberal policies. I want to see the Repubs and Dems work together on deficit reduction. They have in the past and can do so again in the future.

If the last 4 years are any indication of how willing BO and the Dems are to reach across the isle I doubt it. Frankly I'm good with that, the less interference from those morons the better....

yeah they did that when pushing through the AHCA, and got slapped in the next election. Fortunately the Dems don't hold a super majority in the Senate and are soundly outnumbered in the House.. I prefer a deadlocked Congress over one dominant party...

It's my hope that the draconian cuts, which in my opinion are fair because they include reductions in the bloated military industrial complex budget, scheduled for the first of the year go into effect. Perhaps some of those high income folks sucking off the gummint teat that express hate for the low enders that do the same will have to look for work in the free enterprise system they tout between gulps from the gummint teat.

The election is over. It's time to move on and keep working to get the country back on it's feet.

For those of you who expect things to change like we were told 4 yrs ago, I hope you are correct and it happens.

The rich are going to get richer, the government is going to be deeper in our pockets than ever before.

At least all the commercials and robo calls are over.

Now that the GOP has failed to succeed at McConnell's job no. 1 --ensuring that Obama is a one-term president -- maybe they'll grab the hand across the aisle instead of just saying "no." But if it's more obstructionism and game-playing and hoping the president fails, then it's not going to happen.
