Generally, open carry within 1000' of a school is verboten. Del law allows carry inside a school if you have a permit( federal law doesn't)
State Parks are out as well for any carry. Don't understand that one at all'. Not sure about city or county parks. You can actually be charged with disturbing the peace if some one has a fit and calls the cops about a "nut with a gun strapped on his hip, even if you did nothing wrong. Some businesses have no weapons policies posted, but with CC you c an go in anyway and if they see it you'll be asked to leave. You won't be arrested unless you cause a fuss. All in all it's just easier to get your CCW permit.

Fred1369 is reading this now saying WTF is this?
Concealed carry is much more preferable.
A. The sight of guns really does bother a lot of people and I don't wish to bother anyone.
B. Concealed carry means the bad guys don't know who is going to fight back.
C. The more people who carry means that they can tag team the bad guys should the need arise. Also, if a bad guy gets the upper hand on a lone cop the cop may get some assistance. When seconds count the backup cops may be minutes away.

I am very surprised that NC is 34th. There is a whole lot of advertising for CCW classes here.

The other thing with open carry is some one or ones could stalk you , take you by surprise , steal / take your gun.

Or if some thing were to go down it makes you a predetermined target.

Ya you got the gun but it's not too useful if you don't have a chance to draw it.

It's in your best interest to give up as little as possible about the fact that your carrying.

Here in Ky we can use CC instead of background checks so I'm sure the number may be higher still.

In Oregon you can buy a gun from a private party without a background check. So the stats maybe not be quite right.

I bought a .22 target pistol the other day from a dealer and was told that I was the 160,000+ person to buy a gun in Oregon since January.

Same thing in Texas. The background check is done as part of the concealed carry permit, so no need for redundant background checks.
