I augment my income with dividends and capital gains and I'm not by any stretch "rich". So who are you to take what helps me live comfortably in my semi retirement?

Immoral bastages

Hitting the cliff scares the hell out of them because it makes across the board cuts, they won't be able to pick winners and losers.

How are they going to stroke their supporters, how are the going to make money in the market if they can't control who wins and who loses? Damn bad politics

Let's go over it and lets restructure the entire problem, but then again how would that be accomplished, we have a president that doesn't have a clue about economy, or much of else, except for his Robin Hood syndrome of course..

I'll take a stab at it:

You are not currently a resident of Bangladesh.

What does that have to do with determining wealth in the US? Someone working at McDonalds would probably be wealthy compared to them.

That's the point James, wealth is relative...

Doesn't count unless you put a at the end of your sentence.

Yes they are. I've read somewhere recently that the worldwide median annual income is about $800.00.

I'm with Danny Boy. Go over the cliff. It's what we need in the long run. Citizens might decide to take interest in the use of the increased revenue since they'll be providing it. What will be hurt the most are charities. I know I'll slash my giving.

I'm beginning to think we should just let it happen. Think about it. We had a chance to vote the jerks out and didn't. So maybe the sooner we crash and burn the sooner we can rebuild. I don't know, the whole political scene is disgusting.

All your generalizations really do amuse me Boston. Or do you actually have stats on suicide and SES?

You should spend a weekend sitting in the ER sometime. You'll see things that will be very challenging to your rigid worldview.

If we go over the cliff I am warning all of you now that your garbage rates will probably go up cause I can guarantee you that I'll negotiate any cost of living increase into my pay when my contract is up at the end of next year. If I don't get that increase I plan on jumping on public aid and relaxing for at least a year and catching up on my drinking on your dime.

Maybe I'll work for cash busting kneecaps for the union thugs.

Won't affect me. I live in rural Missouri. We throw our trash in ditches, that is the trash we don't burn. You're describing a city folk concern. Also we shoot union thugs.
