Congressional insider trading

Where has the outcry and outrage been from Harry Reid, Mitch McConnell, Dick Durbin, Jon Kyl, John Boehner, Eric Cantor, Nancy Pelosi, Kevin McCarthy and Steny Hoyer been on this subject.

Same place as the other 526 members of Congress who benefit from this little perk of the privileged few.

For that matter, where has the outcry and outrage been from all of the incessant right wing and left wing wailers and railers in this forum? Guess it isn't as important as the "real" issues ranted over on a regular basis here.

Term limits and real campaign finance reform. Just one more reason we need them if we want to have any hope of having a government that works.

Both parties have sold us out... How can somebody as dumb as Joe Biden become a multimillionaire on a government salary? He used insider trading, he used power and influence, he abused the system and became wealthy doing it. I am sure people on both sides of the aisle are guilty. I say vote them ALL out. Regardless of party. I am so done with our elected government it isn't funny. They won't impose term limits? How about we impose term limits for them by enacting a policy of voting out every incumbent during every election cycle. That is the kind of revolt we can legally enforce to effect change.

Only one problem with that idea, the always present "You bet but not mine, he's/she's a good one." mentality.

Just because you didn't notice doesn't mean it wasn't already discussed here. I think this may be the one issue all can agree on so there won't be too much bickering.

Saw the first one, with only a handful of replies. Hadn't seen the others and they didn't come up when I did a subject search prior to posting this thread. And, "bickering" is not the outcome I was looking for. On the contrary, I was wondering if something as universally objectionable as this might actually produce some consensus.

Like I said, this may be the ONE subject we all agree that what they ALL do is bullsh!t.

Good luck getting it changed.

When congress has 12% approval ratings it shouldn't be too difficult to vote them out...

The real problem is the big money that backs these people and gets them elected.

And the next 526 that move in will do exactly the same......#1 reason for becoming a politician is...fill them pockets.
Oddly enough the one subject everyone agrees on, makes no diff what side of the isle they are on.

They will be far less successful at doing this if they are limited to single terms by the voters.

We can start with the two Senators from Louisiana, David Vitter and Mary Landrieu. Throw the bums out! Who are your sorry-a$$ senators?

Problem is this is just election year bs. Ya know they're all winking at each other as Barry is bringing this up. It's just too easy to have an accomplice to make your trades for you. And if they are truly concerned, there are already laws against insider trading isn't there? Whats not there in Congress is the will to enforce them.

Mine are Amy Klobuchar, long time locally politically-connected Dem and Al 'Stuart Smalley' Franken, so naturally I want them gone anyway.

I think you missed the critical point. My wife works for a major bank and due to her job, frequently has 'insider information'. If she were to act on that information, she would go to jail. If a member of congress, who all have continuous access to 'insider information', were to do it they get a free pass because they are exempt from the law.
