One for HiAngle
Just wondering again HiAngle.
Your a serving soldier, and a veteran of at least one conflict that I know of. I'll take it as read that you get good medical care while in the service. But are there benefits for veterans after they leave the service? i.e. Does the government provide you with a decent health insurance as part of your service pension?

My concern isn't so much the quality of health care under a socialized system but rather the quality of those who run it. The U.S. gov't could f#ck up a wet dream. They can't even fix SS and they want to foist this white elephant on us? Puhh-lease... When the Gov't can balance the budget, pay off the National Debt and fix SS then they can talk to me about "universal" health care...

Have you ever had a severe emergency, gotten to the emergency room and it was a code yellow (45 min to an hour wait time?) What is happening right now across the country is people who don't have insurance, and who can't afford 200 dollars for a doctor visit are hauling their butts into the E.R. in order to recieve treatments for everything from the flu to upset stomach. They go to the E.R. knowing full well that the bill will be high, but hey it's just a hospital bill, I don't have to pay that. If you don't believe it then go into your local E.R. one day and take a look around. You will see people bleeding, people with bones poking out, and people who's child is running around playing while they wait to be seen for a belly ache... Our medical system is messed up, but UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE is not the answer. I believe it will only further clog the system, it's already an act of congress to get a doctor to prescribe medications for pain, even if they can obviously see that you are in need, and if the government takes over, you will never be able to get any medication you need. There has to be a better way.

It's obvious the Federal Goverment knows what they're doing... The medical field and political field are so close in comparison they are practically the same thing. Dr. President Elect Barack Obama... Hows that sound? Cause if it goes to UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE in this country, qualified doctors will disappear, and we'll be stuck with poorly trained under payed Medical Practioners. To go along with our UNEXPERIENCED, POORLY TRAINED PRESIDENT

I cut my forearm and needed stitches so I went to the emergency room. I waited for 6 hours before the doctor came in. The cut actually healed shut while waiting. The doctor had to pry open the cut to see how deep it was and then said "yep, you need a few stitches"
I don't blame my insurance company though.

With Flubber lips, Dodd, Waters, Meeks etc.
Having pushed this financial/mortgage fiasco on us.
We think Universal Health Care, designed by The Swimmer(Ted
Kenedy), will work like a Swiss Watch?
Gimme a break. Please

the legal liability is 'way more than Wally wants to take on.
The only thing they can do would be is to give vaccinations and many pharmacies can already fo that. A NP or PA has to work under the licencse of an MD or DO and no MD or DO with a sense of self survival would do that in abstentia.

Yes, we receive very good care. And I don't pay a penny for anything, other than just serving and the "costs" associated with that. It is funny, the military has a reputation of having terrible doctors. I guess people think they must be bad because otherwise they'd be in private practice making "millions". They get extra pay plus they don't have to pay for malpractice insurance and guess what-- some just want to serve their country. I would argue that our ortho docs are as skilled as any. Soldiers are good at really screwing their knees, shoulders, and backs up.
When I retire I can continue to be covered but I then have to pay. I don't know the cost but it's not very much. I'm not sure but I may also have some co-pays at that point. Honestly, I am not so close to retirement that I pay close attention so I don't know all of the specifics. But I am certainly not going to be in a bad position.
