It is absolutely amazing some of the posts here. They do not match at all my image of youse guys from your usual posts. So, you may have started off caring about me but now you are also caring about the rest of us. Where else could you open up like this? Where else outside of your family would you find so many who cared?

Very glad to hear the news.
We Are with you Man all the way !!!!!

Folks like us (referencing the folks participating here..) are everywhere. They surround us in our daily lives, yet we are typically too caught up, too busy, too defensive, to afraid of rejection, too afraid of being hurt...too see them.
They are surrounding you..and me..and the rest of us.. they are just like us..They ARE us.. we just need to reach out to them.
You have, they have, we ALL have; reached out -- and reached back.
Even if only a small bit ... we have reached here in this place, and just look at what is now surrounding all of us.
A new bond, and new strand, a new tether of strength, hope, and friendship.
YOU Fred... YOU... Have brought us all a bit closer.
YOU Fred, are the source of this closeness, this friendship, this bonding of strangers in a positive way.
Powerful dude... very powerful...
THIS is why we have to wake up tomorrow. Things like this RIGHT HERE..RIGHT NOW.
Because we never know...even in our toughest trials, our perceived weaknesses, our incorrect assumptions of ourselves; we just never know when a single voice in the jungle will be the loudest roar in the land.

A Living Will
This is something we all should have.
I, __________________________, being of sound mind and body, do not wish to be kept alive indefinitely by artificial means. Under no circumstances should my fate be put in the hands of pinhead partisan politicians who couldn't pass ninth-grade biology if their lives depended on it or, lawyers, doctors, and hospitals interested in simply running up the bills.
If a reasonable amount of time passes and I fail to ask for at least
one of the following:
______a Martini ______a Margarita ____ __ a Scotch and soda ______a Bloody Mary ______a Gin and Tonic _______a Glass of Chardonnay ______a Steak ______Lobster or crab legs ______The remote control ______a bowl of ice cream ______The sports page ______Chocolate or ______Sex,
then it should be presumed that I won't ever get any better. When such a determination is reached, I hereby instruct my appointed person and attending physicians to pull the plug, reel in the tubes and call it a day. At this point, it is time to call the New Orleans Jazz Funeral Band to come do their thing at my funeral, and ask all of my friends to raise their glasses to toast the good times we have had.
Signature: ___________________________ Date: ___________________________
NOTE: I also hear that in Ireland they have a Nursing Home with a Pub. The patients are happier and they have a lot more visitors. Some of them don't even need embalming when their time comes. If anyone knows the name of this happy place PLEASE let me know!

You add some fried clams and I'll use the doc as well.
Regarding Ireland you don't need to go to the inhouse pub as they feed you beer intravenously.

Keep smiling

Successes
Fred,
Glad to see you here. I was busy all weekend and didn't get a chance to see this thread until this evening. The issue as you said was due to a failure some 37 years or so ago. I don't know what that was nor do I need to and I certainly won't dismiss it. I guess what I would say is it seems you have some successes in life too.
If not mistaken, you're a pharmacist, a husband and a dad. I bet there's some family that are pretty proud of you and what you have accomplished.
Hang in there Fred and take care of yourself.

Fred, I love the form, I'll be printing that out.
It's great ...this group that we all come to for good times and bad. Strangers that get us through the days and nights and folks that I've never met that I know will come through with all levels of help whenever possible.
We just had an incident locally where some young (37) guy with a less than stellar past decided it was his time to clock out. He chose a vehicular method and attempted to crash into a van filled with a mother and 7 kids. Just sideswiped them and wrecked his work van. 90 minutes later in his personal suv he went from the shoulder of a busy road crossed 3 lanes of traffic and at 70mph slammed head on into a mini van killing a mother and her 8 yr old son while the family was traveling to a boy scout outing. The father was driving and needed over 8 hrs of surgery, the 3 yr old just got scratches.
Sad that he felt the need to end it all but why take the innocent with you?
I work at a tv station and see horrible sad stories all the time but I guess with the kids involved really hit me hard.
Peace to all,
John

Fred you mentioned that "I feel guilty for him spending time on me. I feel much better when it is me helping someone else"
This is the way many of us feel.
I have a little analogy for us to think about.
You have probably noticed that when you fly in a plane the stewardess reviews the safety policy
In particular: If the oxygen mask drops down and you are traveling with a child. You should place the mask on yourself first then the child.
To me there is a lesson in this. Sometimes we have to put ourselves first in order to help others
Just a thought that I have shared with others

My brother...I know of what you speak. It runs in my family. After a broken family as a child and a disasterous first marriage at an early age I knew I just couldn't "make it". Actually, I got to where I preferred to be down. Didn't have to worry about failures deflating my sails later. That lasted 37 years. I'm 47 on Friday. I can only advise what has worked for me. First, a low dose of Celexa to take care of the chemical imbalance that had me feeling constantly melancholy. Second...a phrase I heard in passing.
"For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." I've since given it to the Lord to handle. I can't. I live day by day. That's all anyone is promised, today. I don't fret any of the nonsense. Somethings goes bad....He takes care of it. I come out fine. Just because I trust him to do so. Give it all to Him. He'll take care of you. Worry know more. Remember, those who pray shouldn't worry and those that worry shouldn't pray.
PM me any time. Life can be good. It is for me after many years.
Bud

Suicide is taking your psychological skeletons and hanging them in somebody else's closet.
It's a lousy thing to put on people that care about you.
I'm just sayin'...
